Manoribel, so near to Mumbai (actually it’s in Mumbai) yet once you reach here you feel you are hundreds of miles away from the city. Reaching here is an experience in itself. From Marve beach (Near Malad) it’s a short ferry ride to Manori jetty from where you can take a horse cart or an autorikshaw to reach the resort. Say within 20 to 30 mins. You are transported to a place which is very different from the main city. During weekends the resort get full quite often so advance booking is a must. The resort area is quite big & has direct access to Manori beach. The resort has A/C & Non A/C Cottages (Most of them are sea facing) A/C & Non A/c rooms (most of them are garden facing) & they have recently added a tree house as well. We opted for an A/C room, as A/C was must during October & the sea Facing cottages were quite costly. The room was quite big with a big bathroom. Although the interiors of the room are quite old but they are well maintained. Apart from going to the beach for long walks & of course a dip in the sea there are plenty of other activities like Badminton (open air), table tennis, carom. Also there are hammocks where you can take afternoon nap as they are shaded by trees. There are no televisions in the rooms; however they have a common area where you can catch on the news. Almost all the staff at the resort is from Manori village & they are very helpful & very much dedicated to their work. Food is good (a little costly I would say) but with limited options for us Jains but plenty of options in Non veg. Manori beach is crowded especially on Sundays, so if you want to enjoy the beach then go there during weekdays, however if you want to keep it to the resort any day is fine. Going on a weekday has an added benefit as the tariffs are around 20 to 25 % cheaper as compared to weekends. So, if you are looking for a quick break to recharge your batteries (even for a night – if you are going for the first time spending two nights would be ideal) you know where to go.
Best Experience: Relaxing on a hammock during peak afternoon (instead of the room) & the sun rays not even touching you was one of the highlights. The restaurant (it’s slightly elevated so you get uninterrupted sea view) is one of the attractions of the resort. Very much dedicated & ever smiling staff (mainly local villagers).
Worst Experience: During weekends when the resort is full the restaurant service is very slow as they do not keep additional staff. They provide bicycles (for free) but you cannot take that out on the beach, it’s to be used only in the resort premises. May be they should start charging for bicycles on per hour basis but allow the guests to take it on the beach & in to the village also. They also had Kayaks, but when we inquired they said those are only for the owners.
The Manoribel Resort is probably one of the better resorts/hotels available in the Manori area. Manori as a destination is quite close to Mumbai, however, still feels quite different from the hustle and bustle of normal city life. The cottage allotted to me was a sea facing one, with a splendid view of the beach. The ressort has a very lazy and comforting feel to it, with a number of coconut trees and hammocks all around. One can indulge in games like badminton, table tennis, carrom at the resort, or simply laze around at on the hammocks. Evening walks on the beach are a must. The beach is not too crowded and one can hang around till sunset before retiring to the comforts of the resort.
Best Experience: The service is very prompt at the resort. Whether it is a cup of tea, breakfast or lunch. They normally call the guests a little before lunch/dinner time, to place the order on phone. One is informed about the time required for preparing the food and normally serviice is within the stipulated time. Also, the people are quite courteous. Even though we were to check out by 10:00 a.m., nobody really hassled us and we comfortably checked out from the room at 11:30 a.m. Even after that, we were allowed to use the facilities till afternoon when we actually left the hotel. The rooms do not have television sets, one can genuinely enjoy the natural sorroundings, the beach etc, instead of watching the idiot box. However, there is a common TV available for die hard television viewers. I personally enjoyed 2 days without television.
Worst Experience: Even though the service is prompt and the food is cooked fresh and to order, the menu could do with better variety.
The key reason for choosing Manoribel as a weekend getaway is the proximity to Mumbai (actually, it is within Mumbai city limits). However, you are far removed from the concrete jungle that Mumbai is once you are on the Manori island and at the Manoribel resort. The rooms are decent, the facilities are nice and overall the value for money is okay.
Best Experience: Manoribel has a great tree canopy providing shade in the area of the resort that has hammocks, a tree house and informal seating. Wonderful for kids to play around. The resort is right on the beach which itself is cleaner than any beach I know in and around Mumbai.
Worst Experience: We seems to have challenged the restaurant staff when our group of 5 couples arrived for lunch, the service took a long time even though we left it to the restaurant chef to serve us all the same dishes - which he suggested. Although we had earlier forewarned the restaurant manager (?) of our numbers, the staff did not seem to expect us. However, for dinner we were okay after we told the staff of our menu choice (again same dishes for all) and gave a firm time when we wanted the dinner - and we stuck to that time.
It's a very good option if you don't wish to travel more but find a place to relax near Mumbai. Manori is a beautiful fishermen's village & quiet nearby the city. The resort is situated on the beach. Though the beach is not very clean on this side & full of patches of rocks, it's very pleasant for an evening walk to enjoy a beautiful sunset!
Rooms are very well maintained. Wash rooms are kept very clean. Superlike for their Cleanliness. Pool is also clean, not very big though. Staff is very helpful & prompt in service. Food & liquor seems little expensive. So the bottom line is "a Budget Resort for quick weekend breaks! "
Manoribel is a nice resort facing the Arabian sea with a generous dose of sea breeze and a wonderful place to unwind, relax. The resort is actually more beautiful, closer to nature than the photographs on the website suggest. The best part of Manori is its proximity to Mumbai. The service is a bit slow in line with the idyllic nature of the place. There is only one TV, that too in the common area so that the focus is always on spending quality time with oneself or companions
Best Experience: Loads of cool sea breeze with a dash of thunderous winds just before some rains. The cottages 4, 4A, 5A, 5, 6 and 7 have a very cozy atmosphere. All of these directly look to the sea. 6 and 7 are more grand with and extra sitting room kind of arrangement.
A large campus with limited number of tourists ensures a very calm atmosphere. There are a number of hammocks to laze around under the canopy of coconut and an array of banyan and coniferous trees.
The food options are limited though the taste is similar to home food which enriches the homely environment.
There is also a variety of well maintained sports equipment - table tennis, badminton, table soccer and balls of various sizes available to play on the beach! Overall, a good collection
Worst Experience: Won't really count as the worst experience but the overall pricing and cancellation policies are rigid - there are no discounts offered or freebies thrown in, no refund on cancellation (an equivalent value voucher redeemable within a year will be provided only in case they find a replacement booking for the rooms booked)
Also, the rooms I and J look old and have dated amenities
