Superb experience staying at this resort. Resort which has a private beach adds to the overall experience package. Best place to laze around and relax.
Best Experience: Certainly, it\'s dusk view which makes the whole trip awesome and spell bound. The Food is good for veggies. You should try their evening snacks, especially mixed pakodas. (don\'t know about non-veg, but others say it\'s good). We visited during the full-moon day(s) which added to the overall experience. We lazed around under the full-moon on a mat in the beach. We happen to see both sunset and moonset. With your favourite book, its the place to laze around on hammocks. The frontdesk staff are really hardworking. They advised us about the places to visit. However, I would say it\'s best to visit just one place and spent rest of your time in the resort itself. (place to visit: Kollur, Kumbhashi, places of religious interest). They also arrange backwater and island trip, priced Rs. 500 and Rs.1000 each. The place is best to simply go for morning walks, read books, spent time, talk to others, and/or simply sleep in hammocks. This will certainly take-off all the tensions that you have gained in the city and you feel rejuvenated. The Island trip is also amazing. The fisherman showed us some modern boats with GPS, radar, and other moder tools. Island is a good place and has \'tiny\' beach where you land from boat. This trip will be rewarding if you happen to see dolphins (frankly, it is rare). The backwater trip is good and not so interesting. If you wish to visit various nearly places, then do not visit this place. This place is only meant for relaxing and \'staying\' there. They have yoga facilities and TT which you can utilize.
Worst Experience: It\'s the ROAD. The road from Bangalore to Kundapur is bad. But this is something which resort cannot do anything about. However, all these feelings are gone when you visit the resort.
My family had a wonderful relaxed holiday here in December 2012. The resort has the best locational advantage. The Trasi beach is so close by that you can run from the room to the beach in under 2 minutes. The beach is fairly private - fishermen in a morning, crabs in the evening and a stray cow apart from the hotel guests are the only other people you might encounter here. The beach is clean and well maintained and the resort offers indoor activities like TT, chess and badminton too if chilling out on hammocks the whole day is not quite your style. We stayed Ian sea facing cottage that didn't have Ac. As it was December we didn't feel the need for Ac. However would recommend AC in other months as MAngalore is quite hot and humid.
The menu is quite limited for vegetarians but we really liked the food served. Home style and tasty. Its a little on the expensive side but then there are very few restaurants nearby that you could go to. Service is decent, a little tardy on the days when there is full occupancy. However if you place your orders well ahead you can get your food in time. We visited Udipi and Murudeshwar. Murudeshwar offers a lot of water sports and Turtle bay has some kind of a tie up with some folks there but we didn't check it out. It's a good idea to book well ahead for these water sports as there is a huge demand for them during the peak holiday seasons.
Location is excellent as it is a private beach resort. Beach is clean with rocks here and there to sit on it and view sunset. Rooms are not very good but manageable. Service is excellent. Food is most delicious especially traditionally prepared uddin vadas. Staff is friendly. Boat ride arranged from resort was awesome. Lucky to see a dolphin family in deep waters. Enjoyed to see an Island with crabs and sea urchins on it. Staff showed us sea urchins holding in their hands. We saw zebra fish and other fish in the crystal clear waters near the Island and collect the big size sea shells. You can visit nearby gangolli port and maravanthe beach. Very good resort for a reasonable budget.
The place is awesome. Unfortunately we could not do the boat rides and other water sport activities, but the leisurely time we spent were superlative. The location is great. The beach is a private one, hence its great fun to get into the water. The food was really tasty, specially the sea food (though the portions/quantity were very less compared to the price). They should start stacking liquour in house, as otherwise we have to walk out to a near-by joint to buy the booze! The room was neat and clean and gave a very warm and inviting feeling. On the whole, a place to re-visit time and again.
Best Experience: The room we were staying was right on the beach, some 100 metres from the water. During the night, the only thing which breaks the lull is the waves lashing on the shore & the zeeee sound of insects outside the huts. The sea looked awesom in the moonlight. The best part was the bathing, there were only people from the resort and not at all crowded. We could bathe for hours. The evening sunset was a dreamy thing, sitting on the beach watching the egg yolk suddenly disappear under the water! The is a sunset point some 3-4 km from the resort. It gives an fantastic site of the beach and the ocean mixing in the two!
Worst Experience: Everytime we exhausted the beer, we had to go out of the resort to a near-by makeshift roadside joint to buy beer. The booze was not even chilled and there was no provision to chill it in the room. Also, food was really tasty but the quantity was very conservative. Stangely, it always used to get over by 9:00pm, so you have to order extra by 7pm, which would also go cold!
We were a group of 7 peaople driving from the Bangalore in December. We didnt know the exact location of the resort, we just had the name of the resort and the driving direction. After crossing Udipi, the driving became very picturesque with backwaters. When we were nearing the resort, we didnt know the exact destination. Suddently we saw the wide sea in front of us after a bend. WOW.. was the immidiate response from all of us. We stopped and started staring at beatuful sea. It was great. The tiredness of the travel was gone withing a few seconds. We found the resort by asking people and logged in. the resort is beatuifully done (as per a budget hotel standards) and the surroundings are one of the best. Its all nature and nothing else. Its done up quite good. We enjoyed the stay there. Most memorable things is sit by the sea side and chat and relax on hammocks. Its out and out great experience, more due to the locale than the resort.
