To Start With, It is not a hotel it's a private bungalow which is converted in to a Hotel which has 7 rooms in different styles and themes. There are lot of positives and negatives with this .. I will start with positives and goes to negatives I have experienced during my stay:- Positives:- Great View from the resort, It has open sitting area which has small pond(very small as it has 2-3 fishes), next to it is fireplace, where you can party ... Projector is there for viewing movies ... Dinning area has some books to read (although books are there in almost all the rooms) Food is great and not very costly ... Must have moong dal, pakoras, sambhar dosa, idli, rajma rice ... Rooms were designed very artistic .. Each room has its own theme and colour .. Nice interiors ... Spacious rooms (except red and yellow) ... All the bathrooms were spacious ... Staff is friendly and helpful Not too far from picture palace which is one end of mall road ... Lot of sunlight in all the Room(s) except yellow room ... Net doors & windows in all the rooms Negative:- The climb to the hotel is steep as it is located on a hill and it is actually in a secluded area .. One can easily miss that point where hotel is located. There is no parking space in the hotel, car will be parked downside and you have to walk to the hotel .. There is a steep walk from hotel to picture palace. There should be a drop in service from the hotel side ... Monkey Menace .. Yes we have to close doors every time as lot of monkey(s) were there .. Less lighting in the room (s) and bathroom ... No WiFi signal range in Red and white room as they were far from common area .. You have to order in advance 2 hours for meal as it takes time to prepare .. Less staff so the service was very slow ... Don't know who the manager was ... As he was busy doing minutes task with the staff .. Overall the stay was nice and memorable but few things let it down .. That's why given 4 star because of food and rooms ... Must recommended for people going in groups and needed a peaceful place to enjoy and privacy too ... Not recommended for older people because of walk to the hotel and then to mall road ...
Upon arrival we were initially sent to a normal room although we had booked for a deluxe room and after a bit of quarrel with the manager we were shifted to a better room. This room was in the basement with no ventilation and evidently we had to 'upgrade' (by paying extra money) to a new room with window. The food is tasteless and they don't serve any salad or achaar with the meals. You need to buy a salad(costing Rs. 40) in which they will just cut and send two onions. The rim on the urinal was also broken, had to ask them numerous times to get it fixed.
The thing which took the cake was they charged me extra tax, although I had paid the full amount on make My Trip. On further argument the hotel staff say that tax was for make my trip and this is for our hotel. I don't even know whether that's legal or not!
While doing the check-out there was lot of mistakes in the bill. They had applied tax to everything. After a bit of quarrel they removed the tax from the eatables. There were calculation errors also. The hotel does not have a parking and the for the nearest parking lot you need to take a 2 km round as the hotel is on a one way street. There is not much variety in the food and is very expensive!
I had visited Mussoorie from 2nd may to 5th may. From 4th May 2016 we stayed in this hotel for one night. I. E 4th check with 5th May check out. I had gone with an above average expectations after Reading so many reviews. However I was totally disappointed with my experience. I am listing below the reasons: 1) The hotel is too far from any point or Main Mussoorie. So if you do not have your own vehicle do not attempt going over their. The taxi charges up to mussorie are exorbitant as it is about 8 to 10 km. 2) Their is no activity to do over their as the hotel has a no wi fi, no sports activiites, no activities for children, no walking or jogging track and only a small 14 inch tv in each room. 3) It has only a good view but not as good as green blaze tulip inn resort where we stayed earlier. 4) However the worst part is the attitude of Mr Gautam Rawat the owner. I had made the booking on the internet with 2 adults and 1 child. Due to some technical issue I could not select the option of two children. I had two children both twins aged below 9 years. We had booked a deluxe room which could accommodate three persons. On seeing the extra child he informed us that we would have to pay for the extra bed. We agreed to the same expecting that it would be a reasonable figure. However he informed us that we would have to pay Rs 2000/- extra for the two children which amounted to 57% of our original room cost. WE explained to him that normally we were paying Rs 300/400 for the extra bed taken in other hotels which was the normal charge but he insisted that his hotel booking policy was different and we were left with no option as otherwise our full booking amount paid in advance would have been forfeited had we gone for cancellation. This is the first time I had an experience of being fleeced out by a self centred, money minded arrogant hotel owner how does not understand the meaning of hospitality and does not care for small children. I am writing this review to make families aware about the attitude of this hotel management. Dont go by the high ratings given on other websites which has only led to increase in arrogance of such hoteliers. The ground scenario is I have been a victim and want other people not to fall prey to such greedy hoteliers. 5) The hotel lacks basic facilities like a Cupboard or wardrobe to keep your luggage. Their is not even a hook in the bathroom to hang your clothes. In fact we had to keep our luggage on the floor. It has only a 14 " TV. The owner has ensured that he keeps the cost to the minimum and maximize the revenue by fleecing us through exorbitant charges for children. 6) The only positive of the hotel was that it had a very nice view and the attendant mr Ravinder was very courteous. I think that he is working in the wrong place as the attitude of employees and owner was vastly different. This is a hotel only appropriate for honeymooners who do not expect anything but privacy, and families should avoid it. Dont expect anything when you check in this hotel. The hotel can be Appropriately be NAMED THE PERFECT FLEECEOUT. Room Tip: If you are a family avoid it this hotel at all cost. Even if your are a couple dont go with any expections except a good view.
Last summer went for a vacation with family to Mussoorie well known as queen of hills to feel the arena surrounding by hills. We stayed at JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort for a week to experience hills of Mussoorie which is 6Km away from main hill station. The resort is appreciated with natural beauty of Himalayas as well as designed with lavish interiors, bowling alleys, billiard room, swimming pools, gaming consoles, multi-gym, spa. Rooms are well floored and furnished with full amenities, spacious bathroom, 24 hours room service, High-speed Internet access and attached balcony. Room service is very good and staffs are well behaved. Food are very tasty and luscious. Resort consists of restaurant JW Cafe where and can get delicious local and international cuisines. Other restaurants are Teppan for Asian foods and Wisteria Deck for Italian foods. This resort is best for family vacations, meeting and marriage occasions. Had a awesome and valuable time at JW Marriott Walnut Grove Resort with my family. My kid at a joyful time at kid zone and my wife enjoyed the natural beauty.
Hotel Filigree is one of the best hotel among all the hotels at Mussoorie because of its position and hospitality. It is just behind the Mall Road just 10 minutes walking distance from the Picture Palace, bus stand and Mall Road is just 5 to 10 minutes walking distance from the hotel. You can see 180 degree Panoramic views of Himalayan hills from the roof as well as from the room. The hotel staff are very good. Food and cleanliness is excellent. Specially the hotel owner is very gentle and nice person. We have booked a standard room for 3 days but he provided us an elite room which was excellent. We will go again. It was a memorable stay for us.
