We spent 2 nights at Corbett and decided to stay on for 1 night at Nainital. I usually don't like to stay in the crowded mall road area, but prefer to stay a bit further away from the main city for tranquility and to do just about nothing. So when we drove down from Nainital to our hotel in Fethiye (17 km), we were pleasantly surprised by this offbeat hotel/lodge just in the middle of nowhere, in a road on Gethiya, which did not even have any signages of the hotel.
We entered the place, we were greeted by a friendly lady called Manju who showed us to our rooms. The room was just amazing!! It was this wooden room, with a huge double bed, a cute little bunk bed, up a wooden ladder, and a separate single bedroom for an extra adult. The rooms had 2 doors, one which opened to a balcony and the other directly to the terrace. And oh the terrace was a beauty. Surrounded by the mountains and trees, a big swimming pool right in the centre and buffet breakfast served there.
Breakfast was awesome, simple home-cooked food which included eggs, toast, corn flakes, juice, dahi and parathas which melted in your mouth. There is also a cute little games room if you go down the narrow stairs from the terrace. The common lobby had a huge fireplace which was so comfortable and warm on that chilling winter day. Its a nice place for kids as well as all the indoor games are also there.
The service is one of the best I have seen. As soon as we landed, we were offered tea/coffee. After breakfast, the hotel guy made us a special whipped coffee, which was amazing. This place is inclusive of breakfast, but they also serve lunch and dinner on extra charge of 350 per person. We went for the dinner and it was really good home cooked food.
If you are a family of 4, you can go for the Willow suite else if you are a couple, you can go for the smaller rooms. The details are up there on their website. The only regret I had was that I stayed only for 1 night. It is worth staying at least 2-3 nights to just take in the beauty of the place and surroundings and do just nothing. Just sit by the fireplace and have your wine.
Our stay at 2 chimneys was among the most enjoyable. 2 Chimneys is an old palatial colonial bungalow that has been very tastefully re-created into a resort. Each of the rooms are very unique and accommodate families of all sizes from 4-12 members. There is a games room will board games, billiards and TT. The resort sits on top of a hill and has a lovely private view point called \"lands end\". There is a sprawling lawn which is just perfect for walks or you could even enjoy natures silence on any of the lawn benches. The best part for us was the swimming pool which is practically at the peak of the resort and offers great valley views while having a swim. Something to note is the extreme cleanliness of the rooms and the resort. Extreme care is taken by the very helpful staff to make sure of this. If you are someone who loves nature trips and can do without the sprawling menus and pampering of luxury resorts, this is a holiday you will never forget.
Best Experience: Going for a swim with the valley to look down upon and the very homely and tasty food. Sitting for long hours at lands end or at the watering hole and just enjoying nature while reading a book
Worst Experience: We went in the winter season and since the roofing is made of tiles and tin it used to get very chilly at night in spite of the quilts we were tucked into. Please carry your thermal inners if visiting during the winters.
We stayed here for 3 days, we enjoyed the hotel. The staff were excellent, hotel amenities were good. We enjoyed stay close to nature's beauty. Food was excellent, hotel made different menu and choice was asked for suggestions. Staff helped us in our travel plans also and gave valuable suggestions and good places and routes.
Two Chimneys is a wonderful cottage with unusual rooms and great view, nestled in a quiet hamlet away from Nainital.
They have seven rooms, each unique in its own way and a great terrace to have breakfast on. The property is set among lush green lawns and is just perfect to laze in the sun with a book. If you want to get active, Nainital is a short drive away.
The service is homely and helpful. The food is not fancy but tasty, more in the home cooked mould.
It is a small holiday resort housed in a large bunglow. There is a small swimming pool, a table tennis table and a small lawn for children to play. The food is very homely and if there are not too many persons staying you could even make changes in the menu, according to your taste. The place is good for family holiday
Best Experience: The in-house hospitality was excellent and the food was good.
