This was my 7th visit to Pahalgam in the last 10 years since I started going for Amarnath Yatra & every time I go via Pahalgam only. Though it takes a longer time as compared to the Sonamarg route but, the only purpose is to enjoy the scenic Pahalgam on every visit while going & returning too. I always keep 2-3 days extra on hand to pitch my tent around the Lidder and enjoy fishing the whole day, eat, drink my Chivas, play on my guitar and chill in the wilderness of Aru Valley. This time wanted to do something different and stay at a good property to pamper myself a bit before the start of the Amarnath Yatra. Like always was looking forward to staying at a good property but which one?? I didn't know where to go as had been staying like nomads in a tent. Search for a good property started with friends in Srinagar asking them to share details of the properties. Not many knew of a good one as its a day return journey for them. Search diverted on to the various travel portals looking for the hotels available, reviews of people who had stayed there, pictures of the hotel, accessibility to the local market area and on top of it some nice place where one could relax a lot in your privacy with no one to bother you unnecessarily. Asked my Taxi Driver of 15 years in Srinagar if he knew of any good hotels in Pahalgam. He suggested going to Woodstock, Mount view, or Pahalgam hotel. Searched for these hotels on the Travel portals but reviews were quite bad so had to drop the idea of going in there though they were in the market area but it meant lot of noise of traffic which I wanted to avoid. Travel Portals were quite confusing with different prices at different portals for the same dates and for the same type of room requested. Finally after searching for a couple of days I zeroed in on 3 Properties. Hotel Senator Pine N Peak, Grand Mumtaz & Heevan Resort. Travel Portals again confused me a lot as I was getting different prices for the same dates & the kind of occupancy I was looking for. Took the number of these properties and first called up Grand Mumtaz. The person who answered the call gave a very cold response and kept me on hold for 10 Min twice and hung up. Probably they were not interested in having me as a customer so dropped the idea of going to a place where I was not welcome.
Next in line was Hotel Senator Pine N Peak & Heevan Resort. Got to know from the web that these two properties belonged to the same group, AHAD Hotels & Resorts. I had limited leaves & days were running out without any decision on the hotel. I was in Jammu to perform a ceremony at Raghunath Temple & was to leave for Srinagar in the evening by surface. Called up Hotel Senator Pine N Peak directly to know the availability & prices. I was very politely directed to their sales office in Srinagar. That was it, politeness and it does matter a lot. It reflects the hotel is professional and means business. At the sales office in Srinagar my query was very well attended and everything was in black & white in my mail box including Terms & Conditions. The lady Ms. Rehana was very polite, patient and courteous with all my queries. Hats off to those people who have trained her so well how to sell their product. I was asked to deposit an X amount of money as a confirmation in their A/C but by the time I got the Confirmation, the banks in Jammu were closed and I did not have my laptop to do an internet banking. I approached Ms. Rehana again and requested if the room can be blocked for me and I would make a complete payment of my 3 days stay from18th Apr to 21st Apr in cash at the hotel during check-in. No hotel had ever done for me what was about to come. Mr. Imtiaz Khan, Sales Head took my case as an exception and reserved a room for me without asking for any advance amount for the most sought after property in Pahalgam which was running on full occupancy till the end of Apr. This was the second example from AHAD hotels & resort that they meant business. They imbibed TRUST in me that I would keep my word. A property who has FAITH & TRUST in its customers can never go down in terms of Revenue & Prestige. My sincere thanks to Ms. Rehana & Mr. Imtiaz Khan for trusting a first time customer & definitely going to be a repeated customer in future.
The drive from Jammu to Pahalgam was bit tiring but an awesome journey. The Taxi Driver kept on showing me different hotels in Pahalgam to check-in ridiculing Senator Pine N Peak a lot but I had made up my mind for Senator Pine N Peak only since I had given a word that I will come definitely. Reached Senator Pine N Peak at 1435 hrs on 18th Apr to a very warm welcome at the hotel. Was offered a cup of coffee and a comfortable place to settle down before carrying out the Check-in formalities. I was approached by a very handsome Mr. Mudassir, a young guy in his early twenties, clean shaven, well spoken and in a professional business attire who checked me in. In less than a minute my Check-in was over before I could realize it and I was on my way to my Room No : 308. It was a very comfortable room with big windows which I always look for at hill stations, a couch near the window, centrally heated and with every basic necessity in the room and in the wash room. The linen was spotless white and no signs of any dust in the room. A king-size comfortable bed with a big LCD in front of it airing every channel available in the country. I was zapped at the view from my window of the snow clad mountains peeping in between from the tall pine trees and Lidder flowing very close by. The sound of the Lidder took me back to my childhood days when I used to come to Pahalgam on school picnics & spend summer vacations with my parents in here. I wished if I could go back into my childhood days and play in Lidder with my sister. It was time to go around the property and see what all facilities it had for its customers. The hotel boasts of a restaurant with a well stocked kitchen to serve you with whatever Kashmir food one would like to have. The restaurant has big transparent glass walls from which you can see the well manicured lawns of the hotels and enjoy the snow clad mountain view. It has a night club with an awesome sound system playing the all time hits from around the world. A well-equipped gymnasium for fitness freaks, a shopping arcade selling high quality Kashmiri artifacts. A big lounge area where one can relax on the big comfortable sofas and watch the TV & enjoy the scenery outside through its big glass windows. The hotel does not have a bar as it doesn't have a license as yet but one can enjoy own drinks either in the room, in the lounge or in the garden enjoying the magnificent views from your very relaxed chairs. There are no restrictions provided you don't drool around here and there in a drunk condition. Hotel has both smoking & non-smoking rooms and I enjoyed my Dunhill's a lot with my neck sticking outside the window early mornings. It is because of excellent facilities and provisions by the hotel that famous Bollywood personalities prefer to stay at this property only. Actor Salman Khan was staying at a cottage of the property, bang outside my room, during the shoot of his movie "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" and I would see him every day from the window of my room. The hotel gives a magnificent view of the entire Pahalgam city. The hotel provides a complimentary pick up & drop services to its in-house guest to/from hotel/local market. You just need to give a call to the hotel and a vehicle would report at the door step wherever you are in the market. For kids and cyclist, the hotel provides its guest with geared bicycles for INR 300/-per hour in which one see most of the Pahalgam as its a small township. One can peddle down to the amusement park located bang across the property down the hill. The entertainment park has joyrides for both adults & kids and a nice place for morning & evening walks. Entry fee to the park is INR 10/-per person and the cost of joyrides is separate. One can see the stunning view of the hotel from the entertainment park very cosily located on a hill top. The hotel has very tight security measures so one feels very safe being in here. Mr. Mudassir was extremely helpful with my queries regarding the sightseeing packages. Hats off to this gentleman who never made me feel alone at the property. Please do ask for him if you happen to visit this property. He has that aura that you just feel like being with him and keep on talking to him. You would really feel good talking to him. He has complete knowledge of the Pahalgam township. What to eat, where to buy from, how to reach a particular place with various options available. The hotel has a facility of conducting sightseeing tours at a very reasonable price as compared to the Taxis in the market area. Tourist attractions like Aru Valley, Betaab Valley & Baisaran are very close by from this property. The hotel has a facility of pick-up & drop services to/from Srinagar airport/hotel at very reasonable prices with various options to choose from the types of vehicles one would want. The hotel does accept Debit & Credit Cards.
I would recommend everyone going to Pahalgam to stay at this property. It's the best & the most comfortable property in town. Don't think twice, just book it. You will never regret it.
I was searching a good budget hotel to visit Pahalgam with my family, I came across various mix reviews and at the time of finalization the deal with Volga was not very sure about pleasant stay. We chose Volga for its location and standards. The sprawling lawns with lush willows and snow peaked mountains just thrill the guest. One cannot accept any luxury here but all basic amenities were available.
In Volga, the staff was much more courteous and some of my local arrangements were taken care of such as the cab service for Betaab & Aru as well as drop to Srinagar.
Recommended for budget travellers seeking convenient central location in Pahalgam. For family, choose their Hut accommodation - Nest.
AVOID PARADISE INN for your safety. Checked in at * Paradise Inn, Pehalgam* on the 25th June 2016. Here the rooms are accessed using cards and not our usual keys. We had two rooms - 206 & 207. At 7. 30 am on 26th June 2016, I went to the washroom and husband went out of the room for some reason. Someone entered the room(#207) using the Master key(CARD) and stole my gold chain with two gold and diamond pendants and one gold and diamond ring. He took cash from my purse too. Thankfully, I did not come outside the washroom else my life would have been in danger. This brazen act did not end here. After leaving our room the thief entered the children's room(#206) while they were sleeping and rushed off as the children got up due to the strange noises. The guy with beard) and the management are very rude and not cooperative at all. Instead of helping catch the thief, they wasted the first 1. 5 hrs of our time beating around the bush saying that they cannot call the police as they are not aware of the police station's number. There are cctv cameras installed in and out of the hotel. But, the camera on the main entrance of the hotel which would have captured the image of the thief, leaving or entering the hotel premises. Was conveniently disconnected the night before. The staff is clearly involved in the theft. Everything was planned and the entire act of covering up the incident was lead by the GM himself. It is a huge racket running there as we heard through a media person who came to cover the incident that there have been several other complaints of the hotel before and a driver told us that a Mobile phone of another tourist had also been stolen a few days back from the hotel. We lodged an FIR with the police by going to them ourselves as the hotel management did not bother to help in any which way possible. We do not have any hope of getting back are belongings or the thief getting caught. It has left a deep scar on our Kashmir trip memories and we would definitely be not coming back ever again. People here are arrogant and do not realize that the entire economy of Kashmir depends on the tourism. If we stop visiting there will be unemployment and people would die of starvation. For the safety of yourself and your family, avoid PARADISE INN, PEHALGAM. Regards, Neeta Hazara
Great Heritage Hotel with Amazing Views l! Excellent Food and Service !!!
At the first sight, I was a bit disappointed with the hotel looks as in my previous legs of the journey to Kashmir, my stay was with famous 5 star hotels and comparison was imminent. However, I started realizing the true values of this hotel the moment I started the check-in process. The check-in process was smooth and the staff at the front desk was very polite and prompt in working. They didn't keep us waiting for too long. The Location and The Hotel Property - The location of the hotel is simply amazing. One can have breathtaking views of snow capped mountains. It is centrally located. This is a 80 year old (I was told !! Heritage property and is maintained very well. The hotel has great views and is maintained **** and span. The rooms are big enough and clean with decent decor and are comfortable. Rooms are provided with 24X7 heater. Bathrooms are also clean. Food - We had opted for a plan inclusive of breakfast and dinner. Both are provided in a buffet format. The food is extremely delicious. The spread is also reasonable. The variety, quality and taste of the food was absolutely fantastic. Kudos to management and the chef for dishing out such a great feast every single time. The staff at hotel is very polite and eager to serve you and always smiling !! Service is spot on !! Staff - The staff is pretty courteous and pleasant. They are polite and helpful. The service is great. Overall - Had a great, relaxing and very pleasant stay. Will definitely return here - may be in different season, to enjoy great hospitality and location of this hotel.
I went to Pahalgam in the month of September with my best buddies to enjoy the scenic beauty of Pahalgam and Chandanbari. It's quite close to famous Betab valley (of course not at a walking distance). We reached around 9 in the night. It was too dark and almost everything was closed. But as we entered in, the hotel staff was there to attend us.
Neat & Clean room with all facilities, geyser and all. It was hard to find food outside so we decided to have the dinner in the hotel itself. Amazing food (Finger licking food), delicious, well served five star for food. Staff was very cooperative. They booked a taxi for us for local sightseeing at a very reasonable price. Overall, it was a pleasant stay in that hotel. I would like to recommend this hotel to everyone.
