It was a visit to Puri with friends for adventure and fun. We stayed for 3 days, 3 nights at the hotel and next morning at around 8:30 we checked-out.
Pool side was a great place to spent some time and for swimming, it was as average as others. The rooms were like a suite to us. We have done online booking for 3 rooms. They provided us some great facilities there, it was top floor and only 3 rooms were present in the floor. So, in one way, we occupied the floor and spent some quality time at the corridor where few sofas were kept with centre table in between. The mattresses were very comfortable and Television was also nice one.
The food provided by the restaurant was very nice and they provided few perks like complimentary breakfast, Wi-Fi and time to time house keeping was there. It was great experience with the design of their restaurant. As they made it in the form of space station or spacecraft we can say. And, it was a unique concept which made the customers spent their time in discussing the format(control room, stars outside window etc. To make the look funky). So, it made easy for the chefs to prepare quality food and serve the customers more better in proper time.
My few advice to travellers will be like if you want to stay here, then go for online booking, find and use some coupons or vouchers. You can get some great rooms at a very nice price. Please carry your ID proof and if you are a couple then also your marriage proof. These guys are very bind to their rules. There are some nearby places, as it's in the market area, like Chinese special restaurant in case you have love for it. Sea beach is at a walk able distance and from there you can get Cabs/Auto-rickshaws to go to Puri Temple. There will be soaps and shampoos, towels provided by the hotel. They are improvising on making Billiards, Air Hockey, Pool and Bowling in their premises for the entertainment of the guests. You can surely give a shot to this hotel.
We travel a lot and we board various different hotels as per availability. We had booked this hotel in Puri as because we did not have any choice as other good hotels were booked. My friends and relatives who have at least once visited this hotel would never like to come back to this hotel ever or recommend this hotel to anyone mainly due to the behavior of the staff which is horrendous to say the least.
We checked in at about 5. 30 am in the morning in two deluxe double bed rooms in this hotel. My trip this time was with my elderly parents who are above 80 years old and my wife and daughter of 6 years old.
We expected two rooms in the same floor which they said they cannot give. We accepted and we shifted to 3rd floor and my parents in the 1st floor. While making entry we were asked the number of days we would like to stay. We said 3 nights and would leave on 4th morning at about 9 am as we would check-out and have breakfast and leave for our train at 11. 40 for home. We were very rudely told that exactly at 5. 30 am, if we do not check-out of our rooms we would be charged a full day for both the rooms. We requested for a half day charge as we would be leaving at 9 am. It was not paid heed to (normally hotels accommodate at least one to two hours) and we were told a minute passes 5. 30 am we would be charged a full days tariff. So we decided to keep my parents room and leave ours. We requested the reception to give us a wake up call at about 5 am in the morning which they said they cannot do and they reminded that it is our responsibility to get up and leave the room before 5. 30 am. So we all three of us ie me, my wife and my 6 year old daughter was practically awake the whole night so that we are not late on getting up. In the morning at about 4. 45 am someone from the reception suddenly started calling us to get up. Just imagine we went for a relaxed holiday and the whole night we stayed awake just to check-out. We requested them if we were allowed at least half an hour grace as we are travelling with a 6 year old child. When my wife requested the front office was very rude to her. The behavior was not acceptable. Later on as we were seriously tired staying awake the whole night we decided to cancel our train ticket and hired a car back home which was about 11 hrs journey.
Another horrible thing about the hotel is their restaurant. The bearers and the restaurant staff were extremely rude to all the people left and right.
It was a snobbish behavior all round be it front office or any other staff.
One thing they need to understand that there are in the hospitality business and cannot be rude to their customers. They have to understand or their owners need to know how rude their staff are and how they misbehave. If this carries on for long there are quite a number of hotels in Puri now and people will not check-in this hotel again,
I request the owners of this hotel to make a note about the behavior of their staff.
Two plus points are front side rooms are really close to the beach and they have an in-house doctor who come regularly.
NOT RECOMMENDED: if you Do NOT want to take a chance with your Holiday Trip!
Travelers: 4 families Total Heads (including kids): 12 VIP Rooms Booked: 4 (D1, D2, D3, D4) Check-in: 02-Sep-16 Check-out: 04-Sep-16 We entered the hotel and it was a roller-coaster ride for us since then ... This statement is probably vague ... So please read ON the "horrible" experience! Here are some facts: (1) There was some major renovation going on at the 1st and 2nd floor ... We stayed at the 3rd floor and all the day and night we were hearing drill machine sound. Loud noise ... Impossible to stay ... They should not have rented rooms when such construction was done at the Hotel premises. I requested them to stop the noise as we cannot be in peace and think about the kid's experience with loud noise ... We were on top of our voice to communicate to each other. Worst! (2) Room Service and Reception guys do not pick up phones ... So every-time I was calling the restaurant to convey the requirements / issues. (3) VIP Room D2 air conditioner was suddenly stopped functioning on Day 1. After repeated calls to restaurants 4 hours later they shifted to a room which was lying vacant. Can you imagine that we had unpacked and settled in D2 already and shifting to another room is a big hassle? Had another argument with the service boy as he told us to be ready to shift back to D2 when the AC gets fixed next day ... We were staying for 2 days ... We already shifted due to their AC problem and then they were asking us to shift back to D2 ... In-human and highly unprofessional staff! (4)The Hotel's Assistant Manager "Basu" behavior complements with the Hotel's condition. Checkout time was 7AM. Our train departure from Puri was at 8PM. So on the last night we requested Basu" to provide us a 4 bed room for just 8 hrs and we will pay whatever negotiable amount. Their room was lying vacant, but he asked the charge 4 times of what we booked for a room per day! We went to the very next hotel "Hotel Prabhupada" and got a room booked ... They charged half the price compared to what Puri Beach Resort was asking for ... We stayed at Puri Beach Resort for two days with food bills came to an exorbitant amount ... Even-though they could have earned food cost, goodwill from such a huge group of ours but did not bother ... We shifted to Hotel Prabhupada ... (5) We had asked the Assistant Manager "Basu" for food bills on the night of 3rd ... Since the bill will be huge, we can take some time to check it and pay it to avoid hassle of doing the same at the time of check-out. As usual, he never listened to us ... Provided 20 pages of food bills to check during checkout ... When we asked for the our signed copy of the restaurant bills to cross check with the main bill, they kept us on hold from 7AM to 11AM. Moreover, they forced us to vacate the room at sharp 7AM but no preparation from their end to provide the bills on time ... The behavior was very rough and when he was asked by the main Manager next day during we were checking out at 7AM, Basu denied that we asked for food bills last night ... We were very annoyed, argued and walked out of the hotel assuring them that we will provide detailed feedback on this. (6) At the Restaurant, there were three ACs on display but only one is operational. And it cannot cover the entire hall. So all customers needed only 1 set of tables that was near to the AC ... Other chairs mostly remains vacant unless there is no other option. Restaurant is at the basement and you cannot use your Mobile phone there ... No Network! So you remain disconnected for as much hours as you stay there ... The Hotel from outside looks good and maintained. Location is also good, just adjacent to Lighthouse. But what also matters is when you check-in. So "do not judge a book by it's cover" holds true for this hotel!
Hotel Ruposhi Bangla can be cited as a perfect example of a very bad hotel. I planned my trip to Puri in the month of Dec 15 (25th to 30th Dec) I was attracted to their website and booked the hotel paying 50% advance. In my deal they were suppose to provide me Station Pick and drop, 3+1 Bedded room and free temple visit. I reached Puri early morning on 25th and was picked up from the station as planned. Reaching at the hotel I came to know that the hotel does not have a 3+1 Bedded room and I have to manage with a double bed and an extra cot. Since it was a peak season I had no other option. Rooms were not cleaned due to shortage of staff and those staff were supposed to come by 8. 30 to 9. 00 am as stated by the Manager. I had to clean the room so that my family and I could freshen up. 8-9 alcohol bottles, last days food plates etc were there.
Initially I was under the impression that I was having a bad day, however very soon realized that I was not the only one. On 25th, 26th & 27th December many people came to the hotel and there were fight with the manager. Most of them had paid advance and the manager could not provide them with rooms as booked (sea facing, AC, with balcony etc). On 27th evening a group of 14-15 came and according to them they had paid full amount in advance for 6 room which they had booked however there was no rooms, manager didn't agree to return the booking amount stating that they had to claim the money from their Bhubaneswar office, the group got aggressive and broke the reception counter and the door post which the manager returned the money. I had a free temple visit included in my package I asked the manager for the same, He told me that there was no pick up and drop to the temple, we have to pay all the charges (auto fare, panda charges etc) and a person from the hotel would accompany us. By that time most of the boarders had started to shift to other hotels though they had booking for more days, I also thought of doing the same and inform the same to the manager. The manager started shouting and demanding the balance 50% since my initial plan was to stay till 30th Dec 15. I disagreed since I had decided to check out on 28th Dec (early morning) and I had already paid for that. I asked the manager to call the police post which he settled. For next two days I had to shift to another hotel which was pretty good.
The hotel had only 2-3 decent A/C rooms and pictures of the same were uploaded in their website. No restaurant only 4 tables placed on the open lobby, no option of food that is you have to order on the same line with other boarders, no menu or rate card (rate was shared verbally by the cook) no regular cleaning staff, no geyser and would also like to add that the owner Mr. Narayan is even more disgusting.
Me & my family (wife & my 2 daughters were planning to chalo fir se shadi karlo. For our two daughters as they did not present at our wedding day on 1991. We choose the chariot resort & spa formerly known as pearl beach club & resort. It is far from the madding crowd & virtually at the last end of the swargadwar beach road. From the station it will take 20 minutes by auto with 150/ as fare. The resort is built perfectly keeping in mind the landscape of the seaside area, an engineering concept with both the heart & mind. The moment we enter the resort we thought this is the place. Betiyan boli mom papa ko shadi korlo.
The entrance, reception, lounge nothing are not less decorated than any 5 Star if not better.Rooms, lobby, bathrooms, beds are well maintained with all modern fittings. Housekeeping staff? We were away from the resort for sight seeing. There were lenevo yoga, galaxy 10. 1 tab, cash 15000/ scattered all over my 2 rooms. Nothing has been misplaced except cleaning the room. The guys were polite & professional.
Room service is also very very satisfactory. The resort is well maintained & a stare go down straight to the beach. Enjoy the beauty of Puri with your beloved one.The swimming pool is extremely well kept. If you are young don't forget to chhedna your gharwali. Room rent deluxe 4500/, premium 6500/, executive 8000/, deluxe suit 7500/, platinum suit 11000/. Businessman, company, government. Officers & specially the politicians can rejuvenate their mind, body & energy level to keep their empire running.
