Firstly, I am shocked to see this hotel ranked number 11 in the list of Rajkot hotels! It is such a beautiful and impressive hotel that it should definitely feature in the top 3! The hotel is located at a 5 minute walking distance from Jubilee garden, Alfred high school and Watson museum. The first thing that catches your attention is the huge and spacious lobby. The check in process was a smooth one and we were allotted our room within 5 minutes. The lady at the reception was warm in her approach. My room was on the first floor which was in one word "HUGE" !! I stayed with my parents and despite having an extra bed in the room, there was ample space for storage and moving around. The view from the room was of the main street which was a pleasant one. The linen was extremely clean and the furniture was impressive too. Bathroom is a bit small but definitely not restrictive. Clean mirrors and surfaces enhanced the appearance of the bathroom. They had an impressively prompt room service, be it with regards to napkins or soaps or no matter what. The hotel boys were very helpful in their approach and had a pleasant persona. The floor lobby has very different concept, rich colours and almost life like looking plants. It gives the hotel a very tropical look. Kalpesh, the staff at the front desk accommodated our late check out request of 2pm as compared to the regular 12 noon one and also arranged a hassle free and literally free airport drop. The restaurant of the hotel is also very good. We enjoyed a sumptuous and delectable breakfast on the two days of our stay which comprised of traditional gujarati delicacies, south indian and continental items and a live counter serving dosas/utappas. Overall a very elaborate spread with amazing taste. The hotel also has a small gym with all the cardio equipments and a few weights. Good enough for a quick workout after binging on the tasty kathiawari food. If I ever visit Rajkot again, Im definitely staying at this hotel. Definitely recommended!
The architecture and heritage of Gujarat had left an unforgettable impression during my visit to Kutch and Bhuj four years back. Since then was waiting for an opportunity to explore its heritage culture. A religious family get-together in Gujarat was planned during Christmas vacation in December 2013. A little Google search helped me in locating KHIRASARA HERITAGE PALACE, a glorious and rich Kathiawari heritage property near Rajkot.
Khirasara Palace was built 450 years back, by then Saurashrtra king and has since gone under restoration work many times over the period. It took 17 years to bring it to its current splendour and glory.
A very warm and hospitable welcome by the courteous staff was awaiting us at the Rajkot bus stop. It took us half an hour to drive from the main city of Rajkot to Khirasara Palace, situated on a secluded hilltop. The huge and magnificent entrance with two canons from Junagarh, recalls the history of this sprawling 7 acres property.
The palace has been beautifully and aesthetically laid out and the eminence of it can be felt once you enter. A beautiful landscape in the centre surrounded by the palatial rooms and restaurants adds to its glory. All the rooms and suites have been given a glorious royal touch by having the furniture carved traditionally and the royal artefacts with all the modern day amenities. Even the accessories in the bathrooms are made of brass. All the rooms on the ground floor as well as the first floor face the landscaping and have a porch or a balcony. For an overwhelming experience of the royalty one should stay in the maharaja suite or maharani suite. You cannot resist but pamper yourself as the maharaja or maharani of Kathiawar. Maharaja Suite has glimpses of all riches and royalty whereas the Maharani suite has an exclusive location above the Jal Vihar, the swimming pool, with a separate entrance. The combination of imperial with the ultra modern interiors of the dressing room will make it an unforgettable and exotic experience.
The Jal Vihar, is the name given to the swimming pool. It has a complete Kathiawari architect, a palatial backdrop and a huge door at the entrance. Inspite of being cool December with afternoon temperature being 15 degrees, I couldn’t resist myself from taking a swim in the Jal Vihar. The staff was courteous enough to provide the swimwear for all four of us, without any rentals. To recreate oneself, apart from the swimming pool, it also houses an indoor games room. A small temple is also located inside the premises.
Winds n Waves Cafe, is a good place for breakfast. The interior of the cafe has pictures of the ruins of the different parts of the palace with its history. It gets quite interesting when you compare the place where you are standing with how it was centuries ago. The breakfast has a huge spread and is awesome. Sheesh Mahal and Deep Mahal provide indoor and candle lit outdoor multicuisine dining facility. But the lunch and dinner were average, which can be improvised upon. Jain meals were available on request. Though the options in the menu is unlimited but if you are going for package including meal the options get very restricted.
The staff is very helpful and courteous and takes good care of the guest and caters to our requirements if possible. As our train was a little late they provided the drop car to the station for additional one hour to see the Rajkot city.
One small notable thing which drew my attention was the huge treasure box placed outside the rooms. I opened it out of my curiosity and was surprised to find the trash bin and housekeeping materials in it, a lovely way to use it.
A lot of events are organized at the Palace garden viz. New Year party, Diwali party, Royal Weddings, Seminars etc. which can accommodate more than 1000 people. The palace is open for day visitors as well.
It’s difficult to put all that you experience and see in words but to conclude, would strongly recommend one and all to experience this luxury and history of Kathiawar.
We had gone to Virpur to visit the famous Temple of saint Jalarambapa .On seraching on internet site I came across this hotel which I booked .The hotel stay was good matching the price paid for . It was value for money .
Best Experience: The hotel was known to local driver so there was no problem reaching it .It is in the middle of market area so there was not much problem getting vehicle etc .It has two in house restaurent where the you can get north indian & south indian food . The A/c was working well so we could sleep peacefully .Over all room service was good & we were well attended .The checking in was also smooth .
Worst Experience: The hotel is located in the market area so the approach to hotel was bit congested . The rooms were bit small .However in the toilet were not upto the mark . The breakfast served in the hotel was okay , nothing spectacular . In the restaurent for dinner go for simple dishes & donot go for very exotic stuff as the cook are not upto that standard . We ordered some italian food & later regretted that we should have gone for simple Indian dishes .
I had been to this hotel in the month of May 2016 with my family. There were no proper service and so I checked out with in one day there were good facilities and activities available at the hotel. The room allotted to me was spacious neat with the amenities in working condition. The wash room should still be improved in cleanliness. The food I ate at the hotel was good to taste with different varieties. The appearance of the hotel was big and new hotel. Location of the hotel was near the market. The receptionist was good in behaviour and the check-in and check-out process was done on time. The service was average. There is parking facility front of the hotel.
What's a hotel it is, i mean it's a superb. And it's service is best ever all type of service is well. Like room service, etc. And it's food is nice, perfect for all age people. Room is very clean and it's a perfect in this range in Rajkot. I stay there 2 night. I feel very wonderful. So I hope my review is being helpful for guest.
