The most striking feature of this property is it's unbeatable location !! It is Stunning !! Located atop a hill, the property provides amazing and panoramic views of beautiful Dal Lake on one side and Zabarwan Hills on the other side. The property has a peaceful and tranquil surroundings. One can truly relax here. The Property - The hotel is styled as a resort. The property is well designed, groomed and maintained. It has excellent decor. The main entrance has a large porch area and is accompanied by a water body (Fountain) on either side of it - imparting majestic look. There are plants of beautiful flowers (especially roses) all around the property and are looked after well. Rooms - All the rooms are lake facing - providing a beautiful view of Dal Lake. The rooms are very well appointed and provides all the standard facilities that a 5 star property should. The beds are large enough and are very comfortable. Rooms on ground floor are provided with a small garden porch where as the rooms on first floor are provided with a balcony, from where one can see the entire Srinagar including The Dal Lake. The bathrooms are large and well designed. Food and Service - this is where the hotel scores most. The staff is polite, soft spoken and provides excellent service. We had opted for a plan inclusive of breakfast and dinner and I must say that the they really impressed me with the variety, quality and taste of the food. Simply brilliant. Relished it thoroughly. Kids too enjoyed a lot. The staff at the restaurant is excellent and eager to serve you. Special compliments to staff at restaurant and the Chef !!! Activity - the hotel needs a bit improvement in this area. The hotel has limited activities. It has an outdoor infinity pool - which is located at the back of the hotel. We were told that the water temperature is controlled, however, I expected the hotel to have an indoor heated pool - given the climate. There is a games room for children but it has a limited games options. They provide bicycles to small kids on request free of cost. Probably, management can think of adding more activities. Overall, enjoyed my stay at this hotel and had excellent time. Needless to say - cant wait to come back here !!
This was my 7th visit to the valley in the last one year. I am very fond of Kashmir, its people, culture & its food. My visits are purely for relaxation and I snatch time of my hectic routine to visit Srinagar from Delhi even if its for a visit for days or for few hours only by taking the first flight to Srinagar in morning & returning by the last flight of the day to have a Shikara ride in Dal Lake & pack off quickly to catch up with work in Delhi. I have been visiting Srinagar for the last 15 years to be precise now with almost 6-7 trips a year to enjoy in every season whether its dry, wet, snow or spring. Being a travel freak I have stayed in every type of an accommodation from a mere budgeted ones in the interiors of the city to the posh localities paying up-to INR 100/-a day to the best of the properties like Oberoi Palace, Hotel Broadway & the latest in line being The Taj Vivanta. My every stay demands big windows from where I can see the city or the lakes or the mountains or the city life and a balcony, if I am lucky, where I sit down in the evening for a drink and enjoy the pure & cool breeze. My last 6 visits had been staying at the properties on the Boulevard Road on the banks of Dal Lake having stayed at the Comfort Inn, Hotel Malik, The Brown Palace, Hotel Heevan and the likes of them. This time I was looking for something different as I was visiting in the middle of Jan & hoping to see some snow. I had heard of reviews from friends who had stayed in different properties in Srinagar. Some had bad experiences & some good and it was becoming difficult to decided whether to go back to the tested ones or try & take a risk with a new one. My priorities are clear. It should be a big room with an attached wash-room preferably with a bathtub, western toilet and running hot & cold water. I don't care whether the room is carpeted or not, has an electric kettle or not and a big size LCD or not. The linen should be spotless white & so the wash-room absolutely clean. Like everyone else I started browsing the net looking for an altogether experience & like everyone I was not sure how actually the experience is going to be if I book and make the complete payment or a part payment online. I have had previous experiences where the Hotel looked like Taj Mahal on the net but in actual was a ruined Tughlaqabad Fort. After spending days on the net I zeroed in on Welcome Hotel which claimed lot of facilities of their property & a good nice decent picture of their but as stated earlier was not too sure if I should be going in there since had never ever stayed here in before but yes while crossing the city had seen this hotel many a times but never thought of checking it out. Not thinking much I booked it on line & I was at DEL Airport on 18th January 2015 waiting for my flight on Spicejet to SXR via IXJ. Landing in SXR found no Snow was a bit disappointing as there was a forecast. Mohd. Irshaad Khan, my driver of 15 years of trip was waiting at the arrival hall to pick me up. He asked me where I was up-to this time having exhausted most of the hotels in the city. Told him it was Welciome Hotel. He made a strange face and asked me " aur koi hotel nahin mila". I was zapped & thought " beta kaam ho gaya tera is baar". He offered me another good hotel but I was bent upon in checking out this hotel now. Bit nervous I arrived at the property. The exterior looked like exactly what it appeared on the net but I was more interested in value for money. I was received at the entrance by a smiling face which gave me a bit of a courage. Once inside I was met by Mr. Mansoor ( if I spell it correctly ) at the reception, who quickly finished off with the formalities. I must say it was the fastest I had experience it in the last one year. It removed my doubts further about the hotel. Soon I was there in my room on the second floor. All fears of going into an unknown zone proved wrong. It was a big room with a stunning view. The room was spacious, big windows, spotless white linen and a sparkling clean wash-room. I was thrilled. I took a trip of the hotel to see what all was there & I was floored to see such a neat and clean property, well crafted interiors, nicely dressed employees and on top of it very respectful and soft way of speaking. My fears about this property disappeared. Their restaurant is simply superb & serves amazing hot coffee. It was centrally heated & i was quite comfortable in my T-shirt with an outside temperature of 6 deg. Was hungry too so asked for what they served the best. It turned out to be " Mutton Yakhni". Its the second best Yakhni I had ever tasted the first being some years ago at Mughal Darbar, a famous family restaurant just 15mts drive in Auto from Nehru Park who would not charge you more than 50 rupees for a one way trip. It was time for some rest as the flight was a bit late. The mattress was quite warm & later I realised it had electric blanket under the bed-sheet to keep warm and kind of a massage on my back too. The big LCD was right there in front of me and I scrolled through what all channels were there. The room was centrally heated too & soon it became quite warm. Removed the curtains to have a look of the sprawling Dal Lake from the big windows that could be opened towards outside also. At most of the hotels I stayed I could not open the windows to have some fresh air and this was something unique in here. Every minute I was discovering something new & soon I knew I was staying at an awesome property where comfort & lots of privacy is of utmost priority. The corridors were clean and quite unlike other properties where people make lot of noise passing through. The best thing was yet to come. Their round the clock in-room dining service which was very quick. Soon I got into comparisons with the previous ones I had stayed in & realised this was the best place amongst the 3 starred ones I had ever stayed and was a great value for money too. It had given me what all I wanted to have in the room. Infact few things more than that. Housekeeping was the quickest ones to make up your room. Stepped out in the afternoon to have a shikara ride. A shikara stand was bang opposite the entrance to the property. Once in the Dal Lake I realised what a beautiful property I was staying in. It was quite close to a HDFC Bank ATM, Nathu Sweets, the only Wine Shop in Srinagar and neat & clean surrounding which gave it a very Swiss look . The hotel looked so beautiful in the night with all the lights shining in its full glory. Amongst the elite of the city come here to have dinner at its restaurant & quite popular amongst the young generation. I could see from my room window a swimming pool coming up next to the Restaurant. It would surely look great once its done. The staff at the front desk are awesome & they helped me with all my queries about some of my shopping interest. They have a hotel transport to take you around at much reasonable rates as compared to the city prices & have a property in Gulmarg too. You can book it from here also. Stayed here for 3 days & I must say I never felt I was coming into this property for the first time. I was alone & the hotel took really really good care of me. I would advise people going through the reviews to check this property. The hotel was everything what was displayed on the portal. Sometimes you have to trust your instincts too than listening to others if a particular property is good or bad or there is something better than what we have chosen.
I have been visiting Srinagar and stayed in Hotel Regal Palace which is at the central place. Once one gets in the hotel, it gives very good feeling due to it's tasteful interiors and decor. The spacious passage with sitting arrangement in a corner provided at all the floors is appreciable and helps in getting out of the monotony of inside room.
I would not be able to comment on pool as it was not used by me. The inside room interiors are not impressive due to gloomy color and too much of work on walls etc. It lacks heating arrangement as per experience of previous year and would be known only in winter. The people at reception and restaurant are pleasant to talk and service oriented with smile.
The entrance of the hotel is through narrow lane which gives gloomy feeling but once one enters in the property, gives good feeling. I will recommend to stay in the middle level hotel. However, in winter it must be verified whether there is heating arrangement is functional
To start with. The property is a sarovar portico brand which made us feel we were heading for something good. We had big plans for the trip for a single day and then head to Gulmarg and then all hell went loose. We landed just to know that the whole state was under curfew and we had a tough time even getting a cab from the airport to the hotel but luckily we made it. We were welcomed all with a positive vibe with the local warm drink called "Kehwa" and amidst the tensions in the state they didn't let down on their part of the hospitality. They checked us in and made our stay all nice and also let us choose our rooms and we chose the brightest room. The rooms were spacious enough, the beds were all comfy and everything was well maintained and then I fell sick with food poisoning with something that I ate in the airport and then it was all natural medication for which the front office was helpful and the day went at leisure and the manager was kind enough to keep a check on me and my status and by night was all fine. The next morning we had a lovely outdoor breakfast spread. It was nice all chilled with the perfect sunshine and on that day a delegation arrived in the city which again led to a lock down so we had to stay back till evening and then head out for which we could only visit the lake Dal and get on the shikara ride and the floating market called meena bazaar and then it was all dark with roads all empty. So we just head back to the hotel and spend the night. The in room dining was modified according to our states and was good. Our overall stay was perfect except that we couldnt leave afar from the property. And for the hotel its a must recommend when at Srinagar. TRAVELLER NOTE: please be updated on the news status of whats happening in town before you make plans.
I was quite sceptical to visit Kashmir around this time as it was hyped in media that it was not safe. The owner of the hotel Mirage (Rajbagh) Omer Shah assured me about the peaceful situation of the city. I am so glad I made this trip, it was as safe as it gets. I travelled alone to Wular Lake District and everywhere inside Srinagar. It is really sad how a beautiful place like Kashmir always gets negative publicity and people refrain from visiting this place where the main source of livelihood is tourism!!
I stayed at Hotel Mirage in Rajbagh and I highly recommend this property. I had stayed here 2 years ago and the property/service has just got better.
1. The room service is excellent and prompt. The staff is friendly, courteous and warm.
2. The rooms are beautifully aesthetic and spacious. I must appreciate the effort put in minor details and overall it has a very cosy feel to it yet looks classy.
3. This is situated on Rajbagh this is a connected area. But the beauty is, this place is situated in a lane off the main road so you are completely surrounded by silence, peace and greenery.
4. There is a beautiful and plush green lawn with lots of variety of flowers around. I had a great time putting my camera to good use. There is also a canopy like seating area in the lawn. It is a very romantic set-up especially in the evenings when the lawn are lit up softly.
5. I love the cosy, warmth and luxurious feel of this place.
6. They have a state of the art bathroom! It is huge and as good as or better than some 5 star properties.
7. Good WiFi connectivity, the TV subscribes to all channels including all high definition (HD) channels, lovely view from the room.
8. The food is very good here. The kebabs, Chicken Kanti are a must try here.
