- Good location, average experience

We stayed there for 3N/4D. Since, we were travelling from Bangalore via train we reached Chandrapur early morning 5. 00am and then the resort by 7. 30am. When we reached the resort we were shocked to find out that there was not a single soul around. So, I contacted my Spoc over there and she said that she would send someone in. After calling out frantically for nearly 40 mins, we saw someone appear from behind the rooms.
Then slowly rest of the staff appeared. It was a nerve time for us, since we thought the resort was shut-down or something. Just to add, we had already informed the resort that we would be arriving early, and they did try to reach out to us the previous day, however since we were travelling by train, I able to answer the calls, due to network connectivity issue.
Anyways, since the standard room(INR 5000), ready we were put in the deluxe room(INR 6500). The room was big and spacious, had 2 AC's and a thick mattress with a beautiful bathroom in the main building of the resort. Now, the resort has 6 deluxe rooms in the main building and 4 standard rooms in the newly constructed area. We waited in the alternate room till 1. 00pm, and still our room ready and thus we were not able to unpack or freshen up. Below are the pointers:
*Resort is very close to the Navegaon gate and thus there is very little time you waste to reach the gate.
*It is at a remote location and thus privacy is maintained.
*Power back-up is there.
*A big lawn is there where you can find many birds both in the morning and in the evening.
*Langurs and spotted deer's are always present in the resort.
*They have a watering hole behind the resort, where a leopard is frequent visitor.
*After every safari, we were presented with a cold towel, very refreshing.
*They arrange for safaris, both for the core and buffer zone.
*The food is not good
*The food mentioned in the Menu and those given out had a lot of differences. We were a bit taken aback when we saw that there was a huge difference and no one bothered to rectify the same, even after repeated feedback.
*When we asked for extra helpings of food that was never available, most of the time the buffet was empty when we arrived.
*We had to actually wake up the staff in the morning to prepare our breakfast and we ran late most of the time because of the delay.
*The services were very late, I wish they were a bit fast.
*The food kept running out all the time we were there, not sure why, so you need to rush once the buffet is laid out.
*There were not many activities that you could do, in case you weren't doing a safari.
*The resort has to ensure that there are no plastics strewn around the premises, we did find beer bottles and tetra packs in and around the resort.
Overall, I felt the pricing was a bit high. The food needs a major revamp.
Room Tip: The rooms in the main building are spacious and big, the standard rooms are small.
- Average but good stay; slightly overpriced

Advantages: The property is situated at Kolara gate and where only 3-4 hotels are there. Among them Svasara is a premium property with high cost. The room is very big, nicely decorated, bed and linen are Top Class.
There was a long combination desk/table where I could put all my gear and they did have a large wardrobe just outside the bathroom to hang clothes and where there was a safe to store your valuables. There is a small VARANDHA and Lawn in front of every room. You can sit at the Varandha.
Resort is near to Kolara Gate of Tadoba Andheri tiger reserve. A large open Teak house with a jungle ambiance.
Bathrooms are relatively small compared to the rooms. The bathroom had an enclosed shower but no tub and had neat and clean towels. Grooming kits are not sufficient.
Lunch - Lunch is good but not with variety. Request Management to introduce more variety. Lunch was served in Dinning area adjacent to reception. The ice cream served at dinner already melted. When I asked new one they told there is no stock.
Dinner - Dinner was served in The Teak house, a large open, outdoor elevated room with communal dining tables. They served Rajasthani Food at night. Every night the cuisine for dinner was from different areas of India. Lalmas (Red Meat) preparation was good.
Breakfast - They also pack your breakfast like sandwiches, parathas, muffins, juices, tea/coffee - for the morning safaris. Once back from the Safari, you are greeted with a Wet towel and a glass of lime juice. So thoughtful!
Ambiance & staff - Very good, quiet and calm. Staff are very polite and good. They have naturalist, Chirag who is very good.
Disadvantages :There is no fruit baskets in the room. No bathroom slippers in the room. Wifi signal is low. No snacks at evening tea except biscuit and cookies. Menu variation at lunch was very less.
Room Tip: All rooms are good.
- Comfortable resort with basic amenities

b) The distance from Nagpur to Kolara is about 110 kms.
c) The resort is owned and run by Mr. Alok (who is basically an engineer but passion for wildlife and conservation of wildlife).
d) Air conditioners are fitted in all the six rooms at the resort (and additional rooms are being built).
e) The resort has basic facilities but is comfortable for the wildlife enthusiasts. This resort is not for those who demand high levels of comforts and other facilities.
f) The bathrooms are neat and clean. Geysers are fitted in the bathrooms.
g) Food is simple and good. The traditional Maharashtrian poha is very tasty as are the parathas and yellow dal. Sabudana khichdi is also very good.
h) Buffet system is followed for breakfast lunch and dinner during the peak season. During the off season, one has to inform the resort in advance about the requirement and the resort staff will try to make as per your requirement. Let us not forget that the resort is located in a very remote place and availability of ingredients is a concern.
i) The driver of the gypsy jeep from the resort is very good at tracking the animals.
j) During the winter months, tourists can sit outside in the lawns and enjoy the bonfire.
k) The resort provides an ice box during the safari to keep the drinking water cool which is extremely useful during the hot summer months. This is a extremely good practice.
l) The resort can arrange for booking of the jeep safari provided we give the required information well in advance. The resort is fully booked during the summer months of April and May as it is the best time to see Tigers at Tadoba.
m) There is nothing much that cab be done at Kolara other than safari inside the Tadoba.
n) The place becomes very quiet after 6 pm.
0) One can enjoy the myriad stars gazing at the sky (in metro city, it is difficult to see the stars because of pollution).
p) The forest has pure air and we can breathe easily (except when you are following another jeep in a dusty jungle track inside the forest).
q) The resort can arrange a visit to the nearby village to understand the local culture.
r) The owner Alok is concerned about ensuring that the tourists enjoy their stay at the resort.
s) We managed to see a couple of tigers, a leopard and a host of other animals during the safari.
t) Kudos to Alok and the knowledgeable team for understanding the requirements of the avid wild life tourist as well as the other tourists.
u) We enjoyed our stay at the resort especially the warmth of Alok and his team.

2. FDCM (FOREST DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION OF MAHARASHTRA) Eco Huts, Kolara is located about 1 Km from the Kolara entry gate to the TATR.
3. 10 rooms are available at FDCM Kolara. Some rooms are fitted with Air Conditioners (the temperatures in Summer goes up to 46 degrees Celsius and the tourists can relax in Air Conditioned rooms after a safari in hot & taxing conditions).
4. Online booking for the FDCM can be done through the MTDC website.
5. There are four rooms with a drawing room kind of common sitting area. A TV with a cable connection is provided in the common sitting area.
6. The rooms are basic in nature and also the rooms are clean. Double beds are provided in the rooms.
7. Rooms have an attached bath room (with western toilet). A wash basin is provided for hand wash. Please carry your toiletry kit as the resort provides only the soap.
8. Restaurant / Canteen is available in the FDCM premises. The food is simple but tasty.
9. The resort itself is located on the periphery of the forests of TATR. The complex is cordoned off with barbed wire fencing. The gate to the complex is locked. There is a forest check post on the road about 40 metres from the gate. The forest guards told that they have seen the tiger walk on this road on many occasions. The tiger or the leopard does not understand that is is a Reserve area of the forest or Core area of the forest. The animals are free to walk anywhere they chose to. The tourists are not allowed to walk out of the complex after sunset. The tourists may move around in a car or gypsy Jeep (in case they have checked out or for some urgent work).
10. We are overwhelmed by the silence of the jungle as we sit outside our cottage / room. Some lucky tourists get to hear the warning alarm call of the Deer in case a predator is on the move.
11. Other than jungle safari, there is nothing much that can be done at the complex. The tourists need to relax in their rooms only (in case the tourist is doing a morning safari and will be doing an afternoon safari).
12. A small area is earmarked for children play ground. The kids may enjoy in this area under the supervision of an adult.
13. FDCM is definitely a beautiful complex and it is also well maintained. Definitely it is a place for budget travellers. (the rooms are available for around Rs. 1500 ~ 2000 per day for the room only for 2 persons). The food charges are extra.
14. The resort also has dormitory facilities at very nominal charges (but you need to be in a big group to avail the dormitory facilities).

Best Experience: This resort is inside the forest area and has lake on three sides. Last time i was here heard a tiger call very close. Two days before we reached the tiger was spotted 150 meters from the gate of the resort. We have had a great experience every time we visit the place. Siting wildlife here is a pleasure.
Worst Experience: No bad experiences to point out. All the small issues are nullified by the beautiful forest and the wonderful experience.
