The hotel where I stayed was located inside the city. It was hardly four hundred metres distance from bus stand to hotel. I travelled with my family for relaxation in 2013. The surrounding is very peaceful and calm from there in next half to one kilometre distance we get Arcot town, gunpoint etc. There is some shopping place near to the hotel in walk able distance. The staff in the hotel were good in behaviour and they take care of guest very well. The staff used to wait in restaurant and get our requirements on time without any issues. There was no delay in check-in and check-out they follow timing system so that guests will not be disappointed. The hotel provided a big individual cottage with large bedroom, living hall, attached toiled and common toilet it was just like a house, expect kitchen rest all were available. I felt as if we are staying in single bedroom house. Even though we registered only for two members and made a stay with three members, they will not ask or charge extra. The cottage was good and maintained well, with all amenities in good condition. The staff ensured to clean the room before and after we enter. They hygienically maintain the washroom with hot and cold water. I did not have any view from room but from outside we can have good view. The appearance of the hotel from inside and outside will look same and they maintain good. The hotel restaurant was good in both veg and non-veg varieties. We used to order the food one hour prior so that we will get it as per our time. The money was reasonable in price, even though ten percent extra for room service still I am happy with the cost. There were no activities but there is a lake near to the hotel so if we want to go for boating we can use it or there is a children park to enjoy opposite the restaurant. There is an addition facility like campfire, and conference room etc., but no swimming pool or gym. They organised sightseeing trip well. Finally, to tell about Arcot, It is the best place to visit more than Ooty and Kodaikanal. This Arcot is value for our money. I will definitely recommend this hotel for other travellers. There is no suggestion to this hotel as I am happy with all the facilities provided by the management.
Overall, a pleasant stay with very good experience
Overall the hotel experience was very good. We reached Yercaud around 11 AM and could reach this Hotel from the Yercaud centre easily.
First we reached Salem, and asked someone for Yercaud route. The road from Salem to Yercaud is an hill road and the drive is very pleasant. There are about 20 HairPin Bends, most of them are wide and safe with proper fencing. Although better to drive with in 50 speed.
Once you are entering Yercaud, you will see on the right side GRT Grand Trails Hotel. Pass this hotel and immediately within 3 minutes, you will enter Yercaud town. There are two ways to reach Rock Perch Sterling Resort. One is, after passing GRT Hotel, and after few meters you will have to take a right. On that road, few guys will collect money for entering that road. (some 30 or 40 Rs. ) On that road, you will see an entrance and ticket counter for Yercaud Lake which is on the Left, there is an Fish aquarium too.
Second is, after passing the GRT Hotel, go straight and you will hit the Yercaud Junction and take right. Now you will see the Yercaud Lake on the Right. Drive straight, and you will have to take the small right which will go towards Rock Perch Hotel. Personally, I would prefer taking this second option since this road is completely developed. However both roads will take around 2 km to reach this hotel.
Actually this hotel is situated near the Rose Garden and Ladies seat, famous attractions in Yercaud, so it is very easy to find. You might think, that this hotel is little outside the town. But it's not, it's right in the town and no problems for the access whatsoever. When you are relaxed, Be sure to visit, Perfume Paradise shop on the way. They have got nice collections.
For Dinner, if you have car, you can visit Yercaud town and then go back to the room, or else you can have it at the hotel itself.
When we reached the Hotel, entrance is quite big and the reception is good with spacious sofa's. We were given welcome drink and promptly attended. Staff was very courteous and the response was better than OK.
Sterling Resort is a big one, and you will have plenty of rooms available. As name suggests, the resort sits on the rocks. So you will have very beautiful views on the Yercaud valley. Currently some renovation is going on, so be sure to ask for new renovated rooms. I stayed in a new room with an elegant design, and has got all the advanced fittings and even an microwave oven. A sofa and a small dining table too. The bed was soft and good, ideal for an couple with one kid, TV channels are mostly the general Indian channels. WiFi is not available and the Cell Phone did not any signal. So be sure to plan accordingly. No major complaints in the room as such.
However one important point is, since the hotel is situated on rocks, you will have to walk a bit (or taking some steps down) to reach to your room from the reception. Ask for rooms which is nearer to reception, but those rooms are not renovated yet, by the time I am writing this and does not have good views. For Older People, I think better to stay near reception to avoid to steps up and down. In fact anybody for that matter, watch out for the steps. Slowly go down and climb up in the steps.
Another thing is monkeys. Guests are given strict instructions not to encourage monkeys. Monkeys do come early in the morning around 8 am, so at this time it's better to keep the door closed. However, I saw plenty of monkeys right in front of my room in the morning, and they are extremely soft and minding their business on their own. In a way, it's a good sight for your kids.
Restaurant and food is awesome. They charge extra of-course, for lunch they charged me 550+ tax per single person. But it's surely worth a try. They had lots of varieties and the mouth watering dishes will leave you utterly impressed. The ambiance in the restaurant is 5-star level, you would be neatly surprised.
If you are going as an family with Kids, there are many activities to try. There is a big hall for the kids activities. Plenty enough for the kids to hang out. Be sure to play Halloween costumes, art and craft, badminton, cycling, TT also. For couples/newly married, other activities like trekking, yoga classes conducted as well. If you want to try an massage too with all herbals, you can. Except for kids activities, some of the activities will cost extra though.
Housekeeping and room service was good, there was no much complaints. They were quick enough to attend us.
On the Yercaud attractions, Ladies seat will give you an nice view of the Yercaud valley. But if you are staying in this hotel, you are already guaranteed to have an good view. Try the telescope viewing in the Ladies seat, that was good. Another near by attraction from this hotel is Rose Garden, you will have plenty of flowers to see, Also to take some pictures. There is Yercaud Lake, Deer Park, Childrens Park - All are in the central town but crowded at times.
Kilyur Falls, - it will take around 3 km from Yercaud town. But when we visited there was no water. From the parking area, sure to note it down that, there are around 300 steps you have to climb down and climb up back. So be sure to decide before you step in. However, when the water flows the sight of this falls will be really good.
There is one cave temple which will take around 8 km from Yercaud town, the drive was simply superb with bamboo forest on both the sides. The road was little bit narrow towards the end, but the temple was good.
Overall the stay was pleasant, driving felt good. Had a good time.
He location of Raintrees Yercaud is a good. It is around 4 km from the Yercaud lake. It is located in amidst a coffee plantation, just beside a road, so even though you will hear the chirping of the birds and have a good look at the coffee plantations, the honking of the vehicles will leave you a bit irritated. We booked a room through a travel website for Inr 4076(inclusive of taxes and complimentary breakfast). The check-in was prompt and we got the room which faced the coffee plantations. Although, toiletries and hand-towels were missing, with a simple reminder they were delivered to us almost immediately. Also, they do not serve liquor so you need to carry your own. Pros: *Rooms were spacious and there were 2 folding beds in case extra people who wanted to get accommodated in the same room. *The bathroom was clean. *Hot water was available whenever requested. *TV is there in the room, in case you are too bored. *Food is good, however the quantity is less. *The view ( wowww) was really good. You could hear the chirping of the birds throughout your stay. Now, you can only get this view if you get the rooms facing the coffee plantations, which are 2 in number and present just above the restaurant. Cons: *Since, the resort is on the road, the honking of the vehicle horns is definitely irritating. *The tiles in the rooms get awfully cold and with no carpet or rug, it is advisable to wear slippers. *Since, you are in the middle of a coffee plantation, you can expect insects and lizards crawling around, so don't keep you doors and windows open. *The food was good, however the quantity was very less, even for 2 people. *The breakfast does not have any options, its either idli, pongs or dosa. No bread or eggs. In case you want to have eggs or bread that comes at an extra cost. *They do not have water filters, so every time you need to buy water bottles. *The order for the food has to be given 1 hr in advance. *No complimentary snacks or tea. *The area of the resort is very small, so you have nowhere to go in the resort. *The resort people are pretty bad in managing their waste, just outside the resort they has thrown all the waste adjoin there boundary. Not to forget, the plastic littered inside the resort. *Also, the climb to the resort is pretty steep and the gate is unmanned, so you have every chance of an oncoming vehicle hitting your vehicle while coming out of the resort. Ratings: *Food: 4/5 *Location:4/5 *Rooms:5/5 *Cost:2/5 *Surrounding:3/5 Overall, I felt the cost was a bit high for the services provided. And when you are in Yercaud you hardly get to spend time in the resort. You can cover the whole of Yercaud in a days' time. Room Tip: Take the rooms just above the restaurant overlooking the coffee plantations
We planned a sudden trip so, didn't decide the hotel before. I checked the hotels on HolidayIQ which made my booking easier. We went in peak season (New Year) so, all the luxurious hotels around was full.
After seeing the appearance of this hotel I was worried if I could sleep peacefully or not because it seems to look like a hostel, no option so decided to stay. Parking was outside the hotel (felt not so safe). Location is good, very near to lake, falls and all sightseeing places. Connectivity to hotel (roads) are worst and shabby (you will be irritated to drive). Check-in was quick as there was no people to wait. Reception was not looking nice.
We saw the room, it was pretty good, but don't even imagine about luxury. As I was very tired didn't bother about bed, it was quite good. TV was there. Cupboards and all seemed to look old. A quite big mirror. They will provide extra bed on request (I think they will charge extra 200). Telephone in the room was not working. Washroom was neat. Hot water was available all the time. No toiletries were provided, so carry your own. Bed sheets and pillow cover should be changed as it doesn't look so clean and good (or you can carry with you as we did).
No activities, no swimming pool, no gym nothing. Food we ordered, they took time to serve. Don't order North Indian dishes as it was not at all good. Go for South Indian, it was good. Please don't order coffee or tea, you will never have it again in your life. There was lot of disturbance from neighbour room (screaming, dancing and all), you can't sleep in night. No much staff, hardly could see two or three.
Next day we checked out, again it didn't take time. Overall, an average and budget stay. Not recommended for people who expect luxury.
Stayed in the hotel at Yercaud due to my kids exam holidays. We were 5 in number along with a small kid and took a Luxury Villa. It was a last minute decision and confirmed for Shevaroys. Heard after landing down there that Shevaroys is a big group and owns lot of properties in Yercaud. Rooms were clean surrounded by nature trees. At the back of the room, there is a small balcony kind of structure which faces a forest like structure. It was amazing. We have dinner almost all days in the in-house restaurant.. The restaurant had a good choice and we tasted the bamboo briyani delicacy (rice stuffed and cooked in a bamboo shell). Resort has also arranged for bonfire and an event. Unable to attend bonfire as it rained suddenly on day 1. Event was nicely organized and gave small token gifts & candies to the children. Staff were courteous and was ready to help us and even guided us on the places to visit. Overall it was an amazing experience and we definite would return.
