Ajman with two-hundred and sixty square kilometres of land area is the smallest of the seven Emirates and is located on the west coast of UAE. It became part of the UAE in 1971. It is ruled by Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, who belongs to the AL Nuaimi tribe.
The city is bordered by Sharjah on the east, south and north. Located along the Persian Gulf, Ajman controls Manama and Masfut, the two small agricultural inland enclaves.
Major population of this Emirate resides in the city of Ajman and was quite less in the previous years. However, it has increased considerably over the years due to the immigration of people from nearby areas, like Sharjah and Dubai, to get away from the busy urban life.
There are no direct flights from India to Ajman, but one can fly to the nearby destinations, namely Dubai and Sharjah. Various international flights like Emirates, Jet Airways and Air India connect different cities in India to these places, at different time slots.
Though tourists visit Ajman all year long, winter and spring is considered to be the best time to visit this place. Summers are very humid and warm, which can be uncomfortable. However, temperature reaches 25° C in winters, which is comparatively moderate.
There are numerous attractions in Ajman that tourists visit frequently, like the Corniche, sunny beaches, historical landmarks and others. The Dhow Yard of Ajman is the largest ship making yard in the Emirates, where tourists can actually see shipbuilders build dhows, using traditional methods. Furthermore, the ancient town and nearby places offer various sightseeing and adventure sports opportunities to tourists.
Visitors can shop at the major shopping malls or roadside shops in the Emirate. The traditional souks are also popular spots for shopping. Other than this, one may engage in bird-watching, dolphin spotting or just spend time lazily on the white sand beaches.
There are many hotels in Ajman that are priced according to the amenities they provide. Bukhara, Hai Tao, Sabella's, Ajman Kempinski Hotel and Hole in the Wall are names of the popular eateries. Tourists get to taste different cuisines, including Indian, Chinese, Egyptian and Arabian, to name a few.
