Similar to Dubai and Abu Dhabi, UAE Dirham is the currency that is being circulated in Ajman, which is mentioned as AED or Dh in short. Dirham is divided into 100 fils which is used in most of the Arab countries. Dirham notes are available in 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 denominations. Apart from 1 Dirham coins, one also finds 5, 10, 25, and 50 fils coins.
Though there are several ATMs available throughout Ajman but one may be charged extra for cash withdrawals. In Ajman, credit and debit cards are acceptable, but preferred method of payment of UAE is cash.
If one needs to get money exchanged, then there are several banks available in Ajman such as Ajman Bank, Arab Bank PLC, Commercial Bank International, Dubai Bank and Commercial Bank of Dubai. Apart from these banks, one can also get the money exchanged through money exchange centre namely, The UAE Exchange Centre.
