The Ankara Railway Station is well connected with most of the Turkish cities. The travelling time from Istanbul to Ankara is five and half hours. For daytime trains, one needs to reach Eskisehir and thereafter take an express train to Ankara.
If coming from Istanbul, one may take a direct train to Ankara. Most of the trains are operated in Turkey by Turkish State Railways (TCDD).
The main station of Ankara is located near the city centre. This station has ticket sales windows, snack stands, newsstands, ATMs, toilets and waiting room, along with baggage lockers.
Ankara Gar also connects to the Maltepe Ankaray (subway system) from where overnight expresses (from Istanbul and Izmir) and other trains arrive and depart on suburban commuter or regional routes.
Different modes of transportation like taxi, bus and rented cars are available near the Ankara Railway Station, which is located near the city centre .
Tourists travelling from Istanbul can reach Ankara by boarding a train that takes 5 hours and 36 minutes. The fare of this train is 943.21 INR per person. Besides, express trains from Istanbul to Eskisehir link to Ankara. This journey takes about 1 hour and 28 minutes, and charges 589.51 INR.
Most of the night trains have dining facilities. The first class trains have a carpeted, open-plan saloon and 6-seat compartments. There are also trains with sleeping chair cars and private 1-bed and 2-bed rooms, with washbasin. The latest 'TVS2000' coaches that connect most of the Turkish cities are air conditioned.
