| Albert Park |
|
The Albert Park has witnessed many student protests as well as rock concerts over the years. This park was originally a fortified Maori village and only recently transformed into a city park. It has dense foliage and a lot of trees and is a popular hangout zone for youngsters.
The park is located on Symonds Street and is situated on the ground which bears the ash from a volcano thousands of years ago.
In the corner of the park, there is the Auckland Art Gallery which dates back to 1887. There is also the public library here as well as offices of the administrative council.
The park also has various guns on display which date back to the British era. The Victorian Fountain and the Queen Victoria Statue in the centre of the park are other attractions here.
Timing: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm (Daily)
