Ayutthaya’s cuisine is considerably influenced by Laos and Myanmar.
Most of the regular eateries dotting the city offer more or less the same menu of Thai food besides western foods like burgers, steak, chips, pizza etc.
However, for authentic Thai cuisine one can go to the food markets located near Kasikorn Bank where breakfast and lunch is available besides drinks, snacks and desserts.
For something spicier one must try out one of the many Isaan restaurants lining the bank of a small lagoon on Patone Road. They offer sizzling delicacies of northeast Thailand. The restaurants on the south side of the island are more luxurious and elegant.
There are a bunch of restaurants at the corner of Chikun Rd and U-Thong Rd which specialize in seafood. The riverside backdrop is a perfect setting for an afternoon beer.
