Situated in the Bang Khun Phrom area on Wisutkasat Road, the huge standing Buddha image of Wat Indravihan, which is known as Luang Pho To was constructed during the rule of King Rama IV.
The image has a width of 10 meters and height of 32 meters. The Buddha statue was built with brick and stucco in 1867 during king Rama IV’s period. Wat Indravihan has embellishments of glass mosaics and 24-carat gold. It took 60 years to complete. It is the tallest of its kind in the world.
Wat Indravihan was built towards the end of the Ayutthaya period. There are elevated murals on the walls. Works of carved sema stones add beauty to this gigantic creation.
