Commercial Hubs

The island of Batam has distinct commercial hubs like Nagoya, Batam Centre, Nongsa and Waterfront Area.

Located in the heart of Batam, Nagoya is the island’s entertainment district and has a number of hotels, shops and restaurants. It also has banks and money changers which provide foreign exchange services.

Batam's main commercial centre, Batam Centre is similar to Singapore’s Orchard Road. Batam’s largest shopping centre Matahari is located here. Most malls and shops at the centre operate from 10 am to 10 pm daily.

Nongsa, another gateway of Batam is known for its several resorts, hotels, marinas and golf courses. Well known resorts like the Turi Beach Resort, Batam View Resort and Puri Jaya Resort are located here.

The coastal area of Waterfront was recently built for tourism purposes. This area has ocean views and international hotel chains like the Holiday Inn and the Harris Resort. Paradise Bay Golf Course with its 18-hole gof course is situated here.
