One of the oldest zoos of its kind in China, the Beijing Zoo is popular for its variety of wildlife and exhibition halls. Located in Xicheng district, the zoo is home to nearly 450 species each of the 5000 animals. Nearly sixteen exhibition halls located around the zoo attract tourists.
The Panda Hall, The Gorilla Hall and the Beijing Aquarium are the three places which should not be missed when visiting Beijing Zoo. All the exhibition halls are constructed in such a way that animals enjoy a comforting and conducive environment.
During the Qing dynasty, the zoo was called Wansheng Garden (10,000 animals’ garden). The Panda is the ‘special guest’ of the zoo and the unique feature of the zoo is that apart from the animals, popular flowers of China such as the Chinese rose and peony are assigned vast gardens for their extensive cultivation. Also, the zoo is also the address for the Bin Feng Tang restaurant with its menu of imperial cuisine, established for the convenience of visitors to the zoo.
