Tourists visiting the country can enjoy adventure sports and activities such as trekking and mountain biking. Trekking in Bhutan is highly popular as the country offers numerous off beaten tracks, mountains, old villages and forests.
Jhomolhari Trek is the most popular trekking area in the country, lying in north western Bhutan and passing near the Tibetan border. The second most popular trekking route where one can go for trekking is Laya-Gasa Trek.
Some of the other popular routes available for trekking are Bumthang Trej, Gantey Trek and the Druk Trek. The high season for trekking extends from March to November.
Another adventure sport that tourists can enjoy is mountain biking. In addition, Bhutan’s topography, especially in the central, western and eastern regions, also favours mountain biking.
