| The Bat Cave |
|
The Bat Cave, located on the western coast of the island is home to various small insectivorous bats. Locals readily accompany tourists for sightseeing for a tip or fee. Entering or walking down the cave is a bit difficult, as its entrance is covered with large boulders, and one needs to walk through the forest to reach the place.
The cave is at an extreme angle; therefore it is very dangerous to enter the cave. Moreover, extremely slippery stones, presence of snakes, absence of visible paths and handrails make moving in the cave harder. Visitors need to be further cautious while entering, as presence of guano and warm and humid climate inside the cave makes breathing difficult.
Visitors can see bats in the cave only with a flash light as the cave is dark. The ceiling has small stalactites, and travellers can even visit another cave on the opposite side of the entrance, which has lots of stalactites. This cave is called 'crystal' cave. For visiting both of these caves, one needs to pay an entry fee that goes to the family which owns the land. One needs to pay the guides as well.
Admission fee: 51.41 INR (For both caves)
