There are different modes of transportation like flight, bus and taxis to travel to Cambodia from different places. Trains do not connect Cambodia to any international destination.
Flights from international destinations reach the international airports located in the three major cities, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville. Along with the international flights, these airports also cater to domestic airlines. The airport in the capital city Phnom Penh and Siem Reap International Airport serve as the main entry points for tourists visiting Cambodia.
Cambodia shares its border with Vietnam, Laos and Thailand. It is possible to access these through bus, taxis and boats. The border posts for those travelling by bus are Bavet (Vietnam-Cambodia) and Koh Kong (Thailand-Cambodia).
Other checkpoints are used less by tourists and do not have direct bus services with Cambodia. One can also take a ferry up the Mekong River in some cases such as the Kaam Samnor crossing from Vietnam and then take a taxi from there to travel to different places within the country.
Other entry points from Vietnam are Phnom Den (Takeo), Trapeang Phlong (Kampong Cham) and Prek Chak. The border checkpoints in Cambodia providing access to Thailand are Poipet, O'Smach, Anlong Veng, Phsar Prom Border Crossing (Pailin) and Daun Lem (Battambang). Entry from Laos is through the Voeung Kam pass through Dom Kralor in Cambodia.
Travellers from India can reach Cambodia through flights. There are numerous indirect flights between Cambodia and these pass through various Asian cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Bangkok, Guangzhou and Singapore. Other flight stopovers include Taipei, Beijing, Hanoi, Luang Prabang, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
Best way of reaching Cambodia The shortest route from India to Cambodia is between Bangalore and Siem Reap. The airlines that connect the two cities are Singapore Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and SilkAir. These are not direct flights.
Singapore Airlines has a stopover at Singapore before departing for Siem Reap. Malaysia Airlines stops at Kuala Lumpur before heading towards Siem Reap, whereas, SilkAir also has a stopover at Singapore.
Besides, there are various other Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and many more which are connected to Siem Reap through different airlines, such as Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, China Southern, Korean Air and many more.
Apart from these, tourists can also visit the capital city Phnom Penh from various Indian cities. Thai Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines or China Southern has flights from Delhi to Cambodia. Tourists travelling from Mumbai can avail flights by Qantas Airways, Bangkok Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Korean Air and others.
Tourists travelling from Chennai to Cambodia can choose from Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines and SilkAir. Besides, Thai Airways, Singapore Airlines and China Eastern, among others connect the two countries.
