About Cameron
Cameron highland is a hill station located at the north-western part of Malaysia. Situated 214 km from Kuala Lumpur, this Malaysian highland is the only place where tea and strawberry plantations can be found in the whole of Malaysia. Cameron is actually a district in Pahang Darul Makmur area.
Cameron is also regarded as the 'little corner of England in Asia' and has opportunities for jungle trekking, golfing and exploration of gardens and plantations. With temperatures ranging between 12 and 25 Celsius, it is favourable for tea plantation.
Cameron is accessible only through land. Bus and cars are the only means of transportation. Buses operate between the Puduraya Central Bus Station in Kaula Lumpur and Tanah Rata in Cameron and the Golden Mile Tower/Complex in Singapore and Cameron.
Cameron has both luxury and budget hotels. Various types of cuisines including Nyonya dishes, Malay, Chinese and Indian cuisines are also available here. The “steamboat” is a typical Cameron dish popular among tourists.
The town area of Cameron usually remains overcrowded with tourists during the peak holiday season. The entire highland comprises many townships including Ringlet, Brinchang, Kuala Terla, Tanah Rata, Tringkap, and Kampung Raja.
While Ringlet is the agricultural hub, Tanah Rata is the administrative hub. Brinchang has a popular Night Market and smaller hotels and food outlets.
