Cappadocia is connected to different cities within Turkey and other nearby countries by the railway network. The Kayseri Province of Cappadocia lies on a busy railway route and serves as the major centre for tourists travelling to the city by trains.
From both Ankara and Istanbul, trains run by the Turkiye Cumhuryeti Devlet Demiryollan or TCDD are directed towards Kayseri. Metres away from the main city of Kayseri, the train station has easy accessibility to most places. From there, buses are available for travelling to Goreme.
Express trains running between Ankara and Kayseri take 7 hours to complete the journey. Erzurum Ekspresi leaves town in the early afternoon and arrives at Kayseri in the evening. Guney Ekspresi, on the other hand, departs in the early morning and arrives in mid-afternoon. Other trains like Cukurova Mavi Tren and Dogu Ekspresi depart from Ankara in the evening and arrive at midnight.
From Istanbul a sleeper train is available to Kayseri. Additionally, one can also take the Ankara Ekspresi sleeping car from Istanbul's Haydarpasa Station in the late evening for travelling to Ankara Gar. 10 minutes away from Ankara Gar is the main bus terminal, from where buses are available for Nevsehir in Cappadocia.
