| Bellanwila Raja Maha Viharaya |

The Bellanwila Raja Maha Viharaya (Bellanwila Royal Temple) belongs to the Anuradhapura era. It has the Bo tree which is believed to be one of the thirty saplings borne from the fruits of the sacred bo-tree located in Anuradhapura, which itself is a branch of the Sri Maha Bodhi under which the Buddha attained enlightenment.
The temple has various paintings and sculptures on its walls. The annual Bellanwila Perehera is popular among the people. The festival sees traditional dances, drummers and elephants parading the streets.
