The Botanical Gardens of Gampaha were built almost 127 years ago. The gardens play an important role in the botanical research and education and the development of local floriculture and conservation.
The gardens are spread over an area of 40 acres. It is believed that the first rubber tree was planted here, which lends it historical importance too.
