| Galle Face Esplanade |

The Galle Face is a promenade facing the ocean and one of the city's few open public spaces. It is bound by the modern towers to the north of the Fort and the sprawling façade to the south of Galle Face hotel. . It was completed in 1859 by the British. It is a well known picnic spot in Colombo.
One can visit late in the day, while the sun starts to set and the shade disintegrates over the esplanade. Kite flying is also enjoyed along with the panoramic view at the water front.
