| Al Fahidi Fort |
|
The Al Fahidi Fort was built in the year 1799 and is situated in the heart of Dubai. One of the oldest architectural structures in Dubai, this 18th century fort was built to protect Dubai in case of any attack from the sea. Under the rule of Sheikh Maktoum Bin Buti in the 1830s – 1850s, this fort saw major restoration work and was renovated in 1993.
Al Fahidi Fort houses the Dubai Museum that provides insight into the heritage and culture of Dubai. Various khanjar, knives and spears among other archaeological structures dating back to the bygone era can be found in the fort.
