| Burj Al Arab Hotel |
|
Burj Al Arab Hotel is the only seven star hotel in the world and is 1,053 feet tall. This hotel stands on an artificial island, at a distance of 280 metres (919 feet) from the beach in the Persian Gulf.
It is one of the most distinctive buildings in the world that is connected by a curving path with most corners almost 90 degrees to the mainland.
The hotel resembles the sail of a dhow. Its construction began in 1994 and was opened on December 1, 1999.
Woven, Teflon-coated fibreglass cloth has been used to design the atrium's outer beachward wall. The hotel is built in such a way that the beach is not covered by its shadow.
The atrium lobby is 180 metres (590 feet) in length and is the tallest in the world. It is so big that it can accommodate the 38 storied Dubai World Trade Centre building, which was considered tallest in the late 1970s to the late 1990s.
One of the most expensive hotels in the world, Burj Al Arab is divided into 202 duplex suites. The largest one covers 780 square metres (8,396 square feet) and the smallest suite measures 169 square metres (1,819 square feet). There is a helipad on the top of the hotel. Reservation is required for entering the hotel.
