Currently, there are no trains from Dubai to the other emirates of UAE, or vice versa. According to the plan proposed, construction of this rail network is segregated in six stages and will be carried out in two phases.
As proposed in the year 2010, the first phase of inter-emirates rail link will be completed by mid 2011 and the entire network by the year 2015.
The first part of the project will serve some parts of Dubai as well as that of Abu Dhabi. Additionally, the second phase of the project will be serving other parts of Dubai and northern emirates as well as the east coast of UAE.
Moreover, the backbone of this inter-emirates rail network will be an inland line that will operate from Ghuweifat on the border of Saudi Arabia.
