The land of pyramids and Nile River, Egypt is the centre for adventure and recreational activities. Tourists visiting Egypt can indulge in any of the various activities, including sightseeing and shopping. However, the distinct landscapes of the country have scope for other activities like hiking, trekking and water sports.

A unique way to explore the marine life in Egypt is to dive among thousand different species of fish at any of the popular diving sites, such as Gulf of Aqaba, Red Sea, Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada and Dahab.

In addition to diving, water sports like snorkelling are also popular. Swimming, sailing, windsurfing and pedalos are other ways to spend the day. Other water sports prevalent in different parts of Egypt include kite surfing, windsurfing, yachting, fishing and jet skiing (in winter).

With the many deserts, mountains and archaeological sites dotted across the city, sports like horse-riding, trekking, camel riding and go-kart racing are also prominent. Another favourite pastime of tourists is bird watching, also known as birding.

The Nile River cruise provides tourists an opportunity to tour the ancient city of Thebes (Luxor) and Great Pyramids of Giza, along with exploring the capital city Cairo.

Desert safari is also a major activity of the region, both in Eastern and Western desert. One can hire a Jeep, travel by camel or ride on a motorbike in a desert safari. Few safaris also include trips by foot, climbing up Mount Sinai and other expeditions.

Hiking in Egypt offers tourists an opportunity to closely explore the diverse landscape of the country. Hot-air ballooning in Luxor and few other parts of Egypt is also a prominent activity.
