Gauteng is not only the financial capital of South Africa but is also the entertainment capital that hosts numerous festivals and celebrations. Chinese New Year, Gay Pride Parade, Queen’s Samba and Newtown’s Annual International Joy of Jazz Festival are celebrated with enthusiasm and zeal.

Tourists can enjoy different forms of performing arts by theatre groups like Johannesburg Civic Theatre and Market Theatre. In-house productions and international shows with stand-up comedy, dance and all-star musicals are other attractions.  

In the cosmopolitan city of Johannesburg, Hindu celebrations are done extravagantly, like during Diwali the skyline is lit up with fireworks. Klein Karoo National Arts Festival, Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts are also quite popular.  

The Gold Reef City Theme Park is a well known entertainment spot, having a casino and amusement park. Carnival City Casino and Entertainment World, Emerald Resort & Casino, and Monte Casino are some of the entertainment hubs offering cinema, theatre, live concerts, amusement parks and even boxing matches.

The Hatfield region of Pretoria comprises music venues, coffee shops and cocktail bars, among others. Tourists can also choose from a wide range of nightclubs, discos, pubs and bars in Johannesburg. Some of the popular ones are The Manhattan Club, Carfax, Monsoon Lagoon and House of Nsako.
