The Waikato Museum

The Waikato Museum was built in 1987 and has won several awards for its architecture. Recently, it won the gold architecture award in 1008. The museum houses various exhibitions, functions, activities and events throughout the year. There are food outlets also within the premises. From dance performances by college students to art exhibitions by the motorcycle club, a lot of things keep happening at the museum.

There is a visual arts collection in the museum which has over 2500 works of art. The museum also has a science collection which has various historical specimens and purpose built sources which tell the story of science. It is located on Graham Street, opposite Hood Street.

Timing: Daily, 10:00 am to 04:30 pm. Closed on 25th and 26th December
Admission gees: Entry is free of cost. Donations are not compulsory. However, some events may require an entry fee.
