Istanbul Museum of Modern Art

The Istanbul Museum of Modern Art, opened in December 2004, is the first and only art museum in Istanbul. This museum is located at the renovated old waterfront docks in Karakoy district, facing Topkapi Palace.

Owned by the Eczacibasi family, this private museum houses almost everything on modern Turkish art, along with information on global art.

The gallery of this museum hosts exhibitions in order to encourage Turkish art. The building also comprises a rich library, exhibitions, photograph gallery and sculpture courtyard.

Though specialising in painting and photography, this museum also has a cinema for screening films from across the world. The cafes and few souvenir shops on the ground floor interest tourists visiting the museum.
       
Timing: 10 am – 6 pm (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday – Sunday)
              10 am – 8 pm (Thursday)
