A popular World Heritage site for excursion, from Jakarta, is the Ujung Kulon National Park located at the south-west of Java, beside the Indian Ocean. The journey from Jakarta takes around five hours. The National Park includes a large rainforest, which is home to one-horned Javan rhino.

A two-hour journey to Puncak located to the south of Jakarta is popular for its landscapes and mountains. The main attraction of the region is the zoo known as the Taman Safari Indonesia that is home to animals like zebras, hippos, elephants and lions.

The other attractions of the place are the Wisata Agro Gunung Mas Tea Plantation and Taman Bunga Nusantara or the Indonesian Flower Garden.

Another popular place for a day trip from Jakarta is Bogor, which has the Botanical Garden (Kebun Raya Bogor), Presidential Palace (Istana Bogor) and Orchid Garden (Rumah Anggrek). The place also offers walking trails passing through rivers and canals. A number of golf clubs like the Rainbow Hill, Klub Golf Bogor Raya and Riverside Golf Club are also located here.

The beaches of Anyer give tourists a chance for sunbathing. Snacks are sold by locals on the beaches. Visitors can also opt for scuba diving.
