There are three main cinemas in Johor Bahru including the Golden Screen Cinemas in Pelangi Leisure Mall, Tanjung Golden Village situated in Jusco Tebrau City and the Cathay Cinemas in City Square.
The cinematic technology at Pelangi Leisure Mall is not that good, but it offers cheaper tickets. Cathay Cinemas offer high-tech cinema in Johor Bahru. But they are not at par with cinematic technologies in the developed countries or cities.
Visitors can see Tamil movies at the Tamil theatre near the Hindu temple at Johor Bahru. One can also visit the performing arts centre that hosts various dramas and dance festivals throughout the year. The Johor Society for the Performing Arts is a non-commercial society that is devoted to the expansion, development and promotion of performing arts in Johor Bahru.
