Knysna is a lively town with a calender full of events throughout the year. During the end of April or beginning of May, The Pink Loerie Mardi Gras festival is organised.

Tourists in huge numbers are attracted by the annual Pick n' Pay Knysna Oyster Festival in July. The religion, culture and lifestyle of the locals is celebrated in the Rastafarian Earth Festival that takes place in the end of July.

Annual Gastronomica, a lifestyle festival follows soon, in the end of September. Healthy eating and organic living is promoted in this festival. Tourists visiting the town during the New Year can look forward to the Annual Beach Festival that is organised in December.
