Travelling within Knysna

An extensive bus network is the only available public transport in the town. One can reach Knysna from the George Airport, by taking the airport shuttle bus service. Certain tour operators, including Eco Africa Tours, Orbit Trips, Onto Something and Kontours offer touring services within and around the town. For travelling within the town, minibuses are also available.

Taxis are readily available at the George Airport and the Plettenberg Bay Airport. The centre of the town has taxi stations (ranks) from where taxis can be hired for any destination within the town borders.

24 hour taxi service is available at standard rates from the prominent places, including hotels, business centres, shopping places and popular tourist spots.

Currently, there is no metro or train service in Knysna. The only rail link was damaged during the floods of 2006 and 2007. Since then, rail services have been discontinued.

There are several agencies which offer motorbike rentals. From these agencies, individuals can take a motorbike on rent, along with the helmets and general documents like permits.

Bicycle is also offered on rent by certain agencies.
