Knysna is often termed as a popular holiday destination of Cape (South Africa). Among the many sightseeing attractions of the town, 'Knysna Heads' are the most famous. These sandstone cliffs are located on the mouth of the lagoon that connects the estuary with the sea.
From the Eastern Head, visitors can get an aerial view of the lagoon, Leisure Isle and Knysna. A privately owned Featherbed Bay Nature Reserve has been established on the Western Head. On the Knysna Lagoon, one can observe the oyster hatchery.
There are also museums and historic sculptures, which depict the rich history of the town. Prominent among these is the Millwood House Museum in Queen Street, which has various artefacts, including those owned by George Rex.
Outeniqua Transport Museum traces the rich history of transport and its development in the region. Millwood Gold Mines are also famous and attract a large number of visitors.
Birds of Eden, Goukamma Nature Reserve, Natures Valley and Robberg Nature Reserve are some of the places, which are popular with nature lovers.
