Local products like coconut wood handicrafts, souvenirs, Thai silk, precious metals, jewellery and gems may be bought.
It also specializes in fashionable furniture settings. Hand painted items are quite common. Shops are mostly concentrated in the areas around Chaweng Beach, Lamai Beach, Bophut beach and Nathon.
The shops in Koh Samui and the adjoining areas are great places for bargaining. While Chaweng is a bigger shopping area, Lamai is comparably smaller and prices are cheaper.
