Baht is the currency of Thailand. It is written as Bt or THB or baht. A Baht is divided in to 100 satang. Baht comes in various denominations, both coins and notes.
Coins consist of Bt 10, 5 and 1, 50 and 25 satang. Coins are made of silver or brass and can be of different sizes for the same value.
The currency notes consist of Bt10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and Bt1000. Currency notes have both Arabic and Thai numerals and vary in sizes and color codes.
Thailand has many restrictions on the import and export of Thai currency. The export of Thai currency should not go beyond 50,000 Baht and for a family the limit is 100,000 Baht.
Credit cards and debit cards like MasterCard, Visa and American Express are widely accepted in Thailand. Travellers’ cheques are accepted in all major establishments like banks, shops and hotels. It's advisable for all travellers to carry travellers’ checks in Euros, US Dollars or Pounds Sterling for better exchange rates.
