All the 12 main rest camps offer accommodation facilities in Kruger National Park. One can choose from huts to safari tents to bungalows. There is scope for camping in huts with single room units and communal kitchen and ablution facilities. Safari tents have permanent canvas tent bedrooms and seem luxurious in comparison to the huts.
The cottages include single bedroom cottage with living room, bathroom and kitchen. The family cottage has multiple bedrooms whereas the guest cottage has multiple bedrooms with two bathrooms (one of these is en-suite) and a fully-equipped kitchen.
One can also choose chalets, caravans, bushveld camps, bush lodges and bungalows for staying. Most of the caravans or tent sites have power supply, except for Balule and some at Punda Maria. The sites at lower Sabie have water taps of their own.
All these accommodation options vary in price and style, ranging from rustic to luxurious. Some of the camps also host weddings and other events. Basic facilities available in the camps include petrol station, picnic facilities, post box, public telephones, eateries and shops.
Some prominent luxury camps in the Kruger National Park include Imbali Safari Lodge, Pafuri Camp, Rhino Post Camp and Plains Camp. The Hamiltons Tented Camp has six well-defined tents that give a view of the Ngwenyeni Dam. Further, each of these tents have a slipper bath and outdoor shower.
The Hoyo Hoyo Tsonga Lodge, Lukimbi Safari Lodge and The Outpost Lodge are located in the remotest parts of the park and provide a view of the Limpopo and Luvuvhu rivers.
Some of the primary facilities offered by the camps include en-suite bathrooms with showers, air-conditioning, kitchen with hotplates and sinks, conference facilities, Wi-Fi internet facilities and limited channel DStv.
Tourists can also avail certain facilities including basic first aid assistance, cafeteria, emergency road service and swimming pool among others.
Prices of accommodation vary on the basis of facilities provided. Basic tented camps and huts are cheaper in comparison to the bungalows and guest lodges. Tourists prefer to visit Kruger in winters; therefore, prices are comparatively higher.
