Being a famous tourist destination and a booming business hub, Kuala Lumpur is well connected with the rest of the world. The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) located in Sepang, 50 km south of Kuala Lumpur, is served by over 40 international airlines.
Most people travel to Malaysia by air arriving at KLIA or its adjunct LCCT (Low Cost Carrier Terminal) or at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport at Subang. The journey time from Europe is approximately 13 hrs and from Bangkok it is 2 hrs. Connection to other Malaysian cities is easily available from any of the airports.
The best way to reach Kuala Lumpur from India is by flight. Airlines like Air India Express, Jet Airways, Indian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways International, Malaysian Airlines, etc. provide services. Flights are available from major Indian cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, etc.
Bus services from Singapore are available to Kuala Lumpur which is cheaper than flights. There are regular buses plying this route and seats are available in different categories like economy, luxury and VIP class. Ticket prices vary, depending upon the class one chooses. Most of the buses take passengers to the city centre in Kuala Lumpur.
Kuala Lumpur can be reached by train from Thailand and Singapore. From Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, trains take nearly 6-8 hours. Trains operate from the Kuala Lumpur Sentral Station. Ekspress Rakyat, a luxury train service also operates between Singapore and the Malaysian capital.
Kuala Lumpur can also be reached by boat. Several private companies run ferry connections to/from Sumatra (Indonesia) at Port Klang, 40 kms west of Kuala Lumpur.
