The sandy beaches in the Maldives let tourists enjoy a variety of beach activities. One can enjoy sunbathing at beaches of Cocoa Island, Nika and Banyan Tree. Swimming, snorkelling, fishing, dolphin watching, night diving, underwater photography and surfing are some of the most popular activities in the Maldives.
The ideal time for fishing is from mid June to end June. Fishing gear can be rented from the resorts. People can also indulge in night fishing. Red Snapper is an ideal catch on a fishing trip.
A type of fishing, Reef Casting is enjoyed by sailing towards the coral reefs. The reefs throb with fish like purple coloured luna-tailed rock grouper and the black spotted panther grouper, barracudas, snappers, bluefin trevally jack and the giant trevally jack. These marine animals cannot be seen near the coast.
Reef fishing, trolling, sea angling, bottom fishing and flats fishing are other popular beach activities in the Maldives. The low lying areas of the islands are ideal for sea angling. The gear for these activities consists of metal hooks attached to one end of a wooden, fiberglass or metal rod.

Budget But Safe Places To Stay

Hi,
I want to go to Maldives in the month of Dec say 15th or so. I wanna know the following
- How is the climate expectecd to be?
- If Dec is not the right time, when can I go to Maldives. I like cooler climates but not rainy.
- I am a vegetarian. Where can I get good veg food?
- I have heard that the lodginf is very expensive there. Are there not budget places which are safe for single female travellers?
