| Basilica of San Sebastian |
|
The Basilica of San Sebastian was consecrated in 1891. The basilica is located at the eastern end of Claro M. Recto Street, in Quiapoin Manila. It forms a part of the 4 minor basilicas in the Archdiocese of Manila.
It is the only church in Asia that has been constructed out of steel. Gothic architecture is evident in its design. In 1973, the Philippine government designated the church as a National Historical Landmark.
The basilica of the church comprises the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. In order to commemorate her memory, two feasts are arranged in the basilica annually, on January 31 and on July 16.
