Ninoy Aquino International Airport is the main airport in Manila. It serves the general area of Manila and its surrounding metropolitan areas. The airport lies at a distance of 7 km to the south of the centre of Manila. The Manila International Airport Authority manages the day-to-day operations of the airport. The airport is named after the late Benigno Ninoy Aquino, Jr.
The airport has three terminals, Terminal 1, 2 and 3. To travel between the terminals, one can opt for jeepney service. Terminal 1 is the oldest terminal of the airport and handles all international flights, except Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines.
Terminal 2 is located at the Old MIA Road in Mania. The terminal exclusively handles domestic and international flights of Philippine Airlines. Terminal 3 is the largest terminal of the airport and handles international operations from all airlines except Cebu Pacific & All Nippon Airways.
The various facilities at this airport include ATMs, bureaux de change, shops and restaurants. The Manila Lounge at the airport offers facilities like showers and toilets. The departure tax to be paid by tourists at the airport is 777.82 INR.
Business travellers can also use the executive lounge at the airport. This lounge comprises a business centre and conference rooms. Duty-free shops are also available at the international airport. The airport also provides facilities for disabled passengers through wheelchair-accessible ramps, lifts and disabled toilets.
The other facilities that are available at this airport are children's playroom, salon, sauna & massage service, 24-hour medical centres, chapels and pharmacy.
Transfers to the city centre
Ninoy Aquino International Airport is located at a distance of 7 km to the south of the centre of Manila. One can travel from the city centre to the airport by cars, buses and taxis. The travelling time from the city centre to the airport ranges from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the traffic.
Airport bus service operates regular buses from the airport to the city centre. Operators like Alladin Transit, Baliwag Transit and Dominion Transit have regular buses that travel to the city centre from the airport. The frequency of the service is 15 minutes to various destinations along Manila's ring road.
One can also opt for jeepneys that travel between the airport and the Metrostar Express/Blue Line Rail terminal. The jeepneys run from Manila to Baclaran along Quirino Avenue. From the rail terminal, trains are available to the city centre.
One can also rent a car from the arrivals terminal of the airport to reach the city centre. International car rental agencies like Europcar, Avis and Hertz have their branch offices at the airport. One can also hail taxis that are parked outside the airport to reach the city centre. Taxi offices at the airport arrange official metered taxis.
