Travelling to Mauritius

There are only two airports within the country; however, there is only international airport -- Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport. This airport is located near the coast in the south-east region of the country at a distance of around 6 kilometres from Mahebourg. The capital of the country, Port Louis is located at a distance of 40 kilometres from the airport. This airport is the hub for the national carrier of Mauritius, Air Mauritius.

British Airways, Air Mauritius, Air France and Emirates are some of the major airlines operating flights from international destinations to Mauritius. Some of the other airlines operating flights to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport include EuroFly, Corsairfly, Air Zimbabwe and LTU International.

The other airport located in the country is Sir Gaëtan Duval Airport, which is located in Rodrigues near Plaine Corail. Air Mauritius is currently the only airline operating from this airport. The flights operated by this airline connect Rodrigues Island with Port Louis.

Main Airports in Mauritius
Between the two airports of Mauritius, Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport is the only international airport that serves both domestic and international flights. The other airport located within the country is Sir Gaëtan Duval Airport, which is also known as Plaine Corail Airport.

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport is located at Plaine Magnien and is the only international airport serving the island country. Located near the coast in the south-east region, the airport is at a distance of 40 kilometres from the capital of Mauritius, Port Louis. This airport is also the hub for the national airline of the country, Air Mauritius.

There are many facilities available at the arrival and departure terminals, such as ATMs, bank offices and currency exchange services at the arrivals exit and departures check-in area.

Money changers such as Thomas Cook and Shibani Finance, along with banks like Barclays & Mauritius Bank are located at the airport. ATMs of several banks like State Bank, Commercial Bank and HSBC are also located outside the arrivals hall.

There are duty free shops at the airport under the name of Mauritius Duty Free Paradise. These shops house several duty free luxury items, including watches, jewellery, cosmetics and chocolates. The departure hall has flower and book shops, food and beverages outlets and handicrafts shop.

The other airport of Mauritius is Sir Gaëtan Duval Airport, which was earlier known as Plaine Corall Airport. Located near Plaine Corall on Rodrigues, it only serves domestic flights operated by Air Mauritius.
