Mekong delta is known as Vietnams rice basket. The delta is located between the Tien and the Hau rivers. A network of rivers and canals and a flat terrain characterise the delta geographically.
Mekong delta boasts of rich alluvial soil, which is the main reason behind its bountiful production of rice. Apart from rice, the delta is a rich producer of fruits too.
The main tourist attraction of Mekong delta is its landscape of green fields and villages. The canals and rivulets of the region are fed by the Mekong River. Tourists can explore the riverside towns, sample fruits from floating markets, and home-cooked cuisines of the region. Fruit orchards, flower markets, and fish farming units are added attractions.
The regions dry season extends from December to April and it experiences rainy season from May to November. It has a tolerable average yearly temperature of 27° Celsius and the annual rainfall ranges between 1300 mm to 1500 mm.
