Batu Berendam Airport is located about 10 km from Melaka city. Currently there are two daily scheduled flights being operated by Riau Airlines.
However, the best way to reach Melaka from Kuala Lumpur is by road. The drive is just 90 minutes from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. By car, Melaka can be reached from the North-South expressway and is 150 km (93 miles) from the KL Airport.
From Singapore, many bus companies operate directly from Lavender St. Bus terminal directly to Melaka Central. Bus rides often take any time between 3.5 to 5 hours, depending on how long it takes to cross the Singapore-Malaysia borders.
Melaka can be reached easily from all the major cities in the country. It is 150 km (93 miles) from Kuala Lumpur, 216 km (134 miles) from Johor Bahru, and 90 km (56 miles) from Port Dickson. One can travel by road, air or even take a ferry.
The nearest international airport is the KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) and from there it is a 90 minutes journey via the North-South Highway. One can also opt for various taxis or rent a car to reach Melaka.
There is a train station 30 km north to Melaka town at Tampin in Alor Gajah. Melaka Sentral is Melaka's main bus station, where one can catch a bus for the town routes or inter-town routes.
Many long-distance express buses connect Melaka to Kuala Lumpur, Seremban, Johor Bahru, Singapore and other parts of peninsular Malaysia. Transnasional is the largest long-distance bus operator in Malaysia. Malacca-Kuala Lumpur Express and Malacca-Singapore Express operate hourly buses from morning till evening.
