| Chinatown |
|
Chinatown is a haven of cafes, restaurants, gold jewellery, medicines, gift items, Asian grocery products and a whole lot of entertainment in the form of music, cinema, festivals and events. It is considered to be the longest, continuous Chinese settlement in the Western world.
Even though the lodging houses and the cabinet makers may not be there, the historic character of the place is retained by the low-rise brick buildings and the streetscape which houses may restaurants. In fact, the restaurants include a variety of cuisines like the Japanese, Contemporary European, Malaysian, Australian and many more.
The numerous traditional activities and festivals that take place in Chinatown, make it a popular tourist destination. The entrance to Chinatown is marked by five key arches that have been recently restored with the addition of modern touches like red neon lighting.
Timing: Opens daily from 9 am to 5:30 pm
