The Municipal Natural History Museum faces the Palazzo Rocca-Saporiti, in the Public Gardens. Being the most ancient municipal museum in Milan, it houses an exorbitant collection of insects, minerals, 25,000 specimens of birds and fossils.
With its geology, petrography, mineralogy and palaeontology sections, the museum is the most popular tourist site reckoned amongst natural history enthusiasts. Moreover, the museum also prolongs to the Giardini Pubblici, which augments its heritage with a planetarium and an aviary.
